Actually that might be a blessing. Then they would be employees of the universities, and could be held to multi year deals. Of course the ADs would have to have some backbone and hold them to their deals. But all in all, the college football we all once loved is dying before our eyes.No. Legally they are student athletes with name, image, and likeness contracts.
If they were or become paid pro athletes, they will unionize to negotiate salaries. You'll know it when it happens and you may think it sucks now but it will really suck then.
This has been discussed ad nauseum but UT can't win various employee rights lawsuits:Actually that might be a blessing. Most likely. But I think that if the guy has chickened out on the team, a good kick in the ass out the door would send a message that Kelly Washington types can just keep walking.I wouldn't worry about that. I have a feeling that Boo will check himself out and leave Knoxville through the Portal after this season.
Well you need to be able to justify it, or you risk losing the team.I don't understand. If Boo has checked out why hasn't coach Heupel dismissed him from the team? Guys like that are a cancer.
Thanks for the insight. And that makes a lot of sense.Unfortunately with Boo, anyone who knows the chronology also knows sharing private information about a player is a big no-no. I’ll just say that a whole lot of this isn’t of his making. No doubt, he needs a fresh start somewhere else. At this point, reversing the narrative probably won’t happen. He’s made some mistakes. He’s also faced some challenges, injuries and setbacks that just aren’t his fault at all. The reporters who comment on this can say “Read what you want from him not playing” but can’t discuss the “why”. I think we’re at a moment where everyone knows it’ll be better for him to start anew at a different place. That said, this one has been complicated, and dumping it all on him isn’t fair. The kid, when healthy, is an absurdly talented athlete. An enormous part of his struggle could’ve been remedied by better communication. Unfortunately when various situations became pitched that channel didn’t work. It’s definitely not as simple as “he’s a bad kid”. If you’ve been (or had) a kid who faces complications you know that messes compound quickly. I don’t think it would be fair to fault Willie, Banks or Heupel as they’ve always wanted the best for Boo. He missed time, got behind and never caught up with all the new learning. Fault is probably irrelevant. It’s been a sticky ball of string for awhile.
"pre-Madonna", "pocket presents", and calling each other "morans" has kinda been a thing on Volnation for a while. lol
I’m definitely not absolving him/his mom/his peeps from bad decisions. The problem is that selfish choices narrow down options. This Summer, some misunderstandings led to him missing practice. That led to him being suspended from a chance at playing two ways. Another bad communication event led to more missed practice and silence. That led to a list of tasks and responsibilities defined by the team. Performing those tasks meant missing more practice. Missing practice meant not picking up new coverages, new reads, and not gelling with rotations. Minor injuries led to more missed practice throughout the season. Missed assignments and sloppy tackling have led to fewer snaps. Fair catches and bad punt reads may lead to getting canned there too. He has the ability to turn games around with interceptions, blitzes and returns. None of that will happen from the bench. He’s rotating on defense in practice last week and this week. Between the bye week, UNM and UF week, he has three weeks to get ready to add value in the Swamp. I’d bet against that, but there’s a big window here for him to put his head down and add value if he decides to. The policy under CJH is about players controlling their snaps with actions and performance. Obviously, odds are against. That said, it’s up to him. I obviously don’t care who is or isn’t “done” with him. I’m a serious doubter, but happy to be proven wrong. Thanks for the insight. And that makes a lot of sense.
Pre-Madonna is literally just before Madonna. It’s similar to BC, but it refers to an era before MTV when seduction was one to one, rather than one to many. It’s also a clear delineation between skinny eyebrows and bushy ones.Pre-Madonna is someone who is not quite Madonna but they’re trying.
Pocket presents are when you put your winter coat on for the first time in late fall and find a 20 dollar bill that you left in the pocket the previous early spring.
Moran I have nothing for.

They’re actually one of the best staffs in the country in evaluating character. Boo had baggage, but also came with recommendations from reputable sources. His raw talent is of a level that quite literally any program in the country would’ve signed him with a manslaughter charge, and deemed it worth the risk.As it was, he was presented as a kid with challenges who had righted the ship. Not so, but no team was ruling him out during recruiting.Unfortunately, our coaches haven’t learned to evaluate character and work ethic. Equally as important as talent.
He's walking a thin line between a possible bright future and going back to living with his Mama in Chattanooga and dealing with her BS.They’re actually one of the best staffs in the country in evaluating character.
