What Finebaum is saying

I do not want Freeze at all. I think we should give Pruitt another year and yes I know it’s an unpopular opinion. I think Freeze will get into more trouble if he were to come here and it would be like Bruce Pearl at Auburn now. I think there are other coaches out there who would be a better fit. We will have to pay a pretty penny given our situation if we were to can Pruitt.

Like Bruce Pearl at Auburn?

I'll take it.

(Edit: /s)

I believe Freeze would be the most capable coach at UT since Fulmer, and even an upgrade from Fulmer in terms of understanding the modern game. Sure he has baggage but who cares. People want a winner and as long as he’s not repeating past poor choices, he would be welcomed by the vast majority.
He's a homerun hire no doubt however some Pruitt lovers don't think so...Can't understand their thinking...Still he's a game changer for sure.

I’m a fan of both, but Led Zeppelin is the greatest band of all time, and it’s not even close. Bonham changed the way drums are played. Jimmy Page is among the ten best guitar players of all time. They had no weakness. Skynyrd was good, in a catchy-jukebox sort of way, but they're not even in the same league as Zeppelin.

Never agreed with a post more. I'll add that Plant is top 3 in greatest front-men of all time (if not #1) and JPJ is criminally under-rated at bass.

There is absolutely NOBODY waiting in the wings. UT admin isn't smart enough, decisive enough nor agile enough to make such a move. Ever wonder why we haven't been really IN the past coaching sweepstakes for the truly good ones and everyone else gets their man.....except us? I suspect we keep Pruitt through next year even with a shellacking at the hands of aTm next week. If he doesn't turn this thing around in HUGE fashion next year, then we will start our version of a coaching search, run through 4-5 mediocre candidates and hire one of those poor souls and pay them an obscene amount of failure money. Then the "BOOM!"s will start and we will be sitting here trying to convince ourselves of the upcoming top ranked recruiting classes and championships that are almost a certainty if not a foregone conclusion. Then reality will take hold with three or four 3-6 win seasons. And Finebaum's an idiot.

That's actually spot on... The entirety of Paul Finebaum's audience are people that say "Murica", have Lynyrd Skynyrd stickers on the backs of their lifted 24 year old 400k mile pickups that they've swapped the engine in 5 times, and say "Cmon mane, it ain't illegal, she's 17..."

is that you Biff?

He was 19-21 in the SEC
He was 17-15 with Wins over 5 Top 10 teams... in conference. In his first 4 seasons.
He lost his startign QB midway throguh year 5.

I'll grant you this. He did have some head scratching losses. And they almost immediately came after Big wins always...

It wasn't just Bama that he beat twice. he beat a top 5 LSU and Top 5 Miss State and top 15 Texas A&M.

And he never had a deep team at Ole Miss. They had talent but it was kind of top heavy.

anyways...
Try putting a little context into the numbers when you post them

On the Fulmer comment, Fulmer did not want to keep Barnes in the UCLA sweepstakes but boosters did. Just shows how the world works in the AD's office.
where did you see that Fulmer didn’t want to bring Barnes back during the UCLA extravaganza?

There want be a coaching unless he goes somewhere else. Great cord. Don’t equal great head coaches. I don’t think he is going anywhere but I’m as tired of getting my team beaten by the big boys... Every year I say this going to be the year! If you want to win pay for the top (5) coaches to come and we will win!

He went 7 wins, 8, 9, and 10 his first 4 years. The players we have on our roster now are arguably as good or better than the talent he had down at OM.

Pruitt has went 5 wins, 8, and 3 wins and has more talent across the board than he did in year 1. It all boils down to coaching at this point. Our Jimmies and joes aren't double digit losses to all of the teams we lost to this year, minus Alabama.

Nothing is wrong with Lynyrd Skynyrd... Phenomenal southern rock band... Maybe 2nd best to Marshall Tucker Band... Maybe best, idk...

But YOU KNOW the group of people I described...

I guess that makes you better than the people you are describing!!! NOT!!!!!

Has everyone on here forgot the CHF was coaching at OLE MISS??? He was .500 at OLE MISS in the SEC WEST!! Even with the paying players, etc. THAT is not an easy accomplishment. Again... at OLE MISS.

David Cutcliffe says hello from his regular cell that didn't ever need to be a burner phone!!!
