What does investigation have to find to out JP

Sometimes you have to take a step back to enable you to take 3 steps forward. Pruitt is as incompetent of a coach as we’ve ever had on our sidelines. How is that not apparent to you? And it requires a great leader/coach to become a great team. We can agree of this too correct? So explain to me how our logic is off.
We have to hire a great coach. I’m for whatever has to happen for this administration to make the change. That doesn’t make me any lesser of a fan than you.
True, but I don’t want perfect to get in the way is better. Many people - like me - that want Pruitt gone realize we may not be able to replace Pruitt with a great coach. But we can get a better coach to end losing seasons, be more competitive vs our rivals, and beat teams like Vandy and Kentucky every year. Get to that level first, if that’s what is possible.

Results of the investigation:

Overall record 16-19

SEC record 10-16
0-9 against GA, FLA, and Bama
Blowout loss to KY at home
Lost to Vanderbilt

Non-conference record. 6-3
Losses to West Virginia, GA State, and BYU

We have double-digit losses in 7 of our last 8 games.

It looks like time for a change. Pruitt is just not getting it done. If we continue down this path, you can forget about top 10 recruiting classes.

LMAO and I totally concur. Nice investigative work!

What kind of backwards, mafia-style thinking is this?

Let's figure out what it would take to get rid of the schmuck, then manufacture (or in this case wish for) just enough bad stuff to come to light to get that job done?

What? Are you seriously taking the first step toward wishing ill on our program just to get rid of a coach you don't like?
it wouldnt be wishing ill on our program to get rid of a proven loser, it would be wishing ill if we kept him...can you not see that?

But Pruitt is not (at least, not yet) a proven loser.

All we've seen proven so far is that he can't get the program where we want it to go in his first three years. But, by the way, the third year was a weird one, which may or may not be an accurate predictor of future performance.

Now, I'll agree with you that IF he's going to be the guy who can get us back to winning championships, one would really expect to have seen a helluva lot more from him than we have so far. Absolutely.

But that doesn't mean the door is closed. That doesn't mean it is "proven."

And given that the cost of changing coaches is so high, short of a Bob Stoops or Urban Meyer, a proven championship-caliber leader, we might actually be better off giving him one more shot to see if he can, against the odds, turn the corner.

That's what I see. And how I see it.

How many Coaches and who are they that are going to come here to get us to that first level and know they are going to be canned once that is accomplished... Not beating you up but who wants to come here recruit, coach, and staff a team to be slammed by the fanbase 4 years while we look for another Coach...

Thoughts Go Big or Don't Go at All

You lost me on your first sentence. DNR the rest.

Yeah, but WFH are we thinking hiring Dooley, Butch and Pruitt. Did you really believe any of those were going to get us to the top?

By not stabilizing the program first, we are trying to hire coaches who have to bring us up two levels. Notice the quality of candidates Texas has to choose from vs Tennessee.

Fulmer really should issue a statement that we’re going to keep Pruitt another year and nuke all these rumors.
Rumors from the lowest level message board that has anything to do with Tennessee. I doubt he feels it’s a waste of time to appease people whose contributions are minimal at best

Dooley -- 1. Hired at the last minute because of Kiffin's Departure.
2. Had a law degree and was the AD at LT to help work around the NCAA investigation. Hamiliton evidently was not Capable.
3. Oversaw the building of the New Athletic Facilities.
4. Cheap Hire with a whole lot of extra duties plus he had the Name.
5. Not that good of a Coach.
Butch --- 1. Probably the 4th or 5th Choice.
2. Fans thinking the White Whale (Gruden) coming
3. Better Coaches were not even Contacted.
4. Used Car Salesman
5. Self anointed Savior and Smoke finally cleared.

Pruitt --- 1. An OMG moment in the ADs office. Totally incompetence.
2. Boosters and Fans threw the Gruden Hand job out there for more Chaos and Confusion.
3. Schiano Mess and the Leach Mess no competent AD Mess.
4. Boosters, Board, and AD all on different Sheets of Music as to the hires.
5. Arrogant. Probably promised a lot by AD to get him here and given too much leeway for a 1st Time HC.

Who is next? Batter Up.

Good summary. My earlier point was that most of us want a superstar head coach, but the state of the program will scare off most really good coaches. We either have to get lucky with a Pearl type or get a retread like Barnes who’s out to prove he got a raw deal. In between, we hired Martin and Tyndall with spotty results. Sorry those are basketball examples for there are football equivalents. Button line is it may be easier to find a coach to get us simply to a 7-9 win program first. Then it’s easier to attract coaches and recruits when you want to make the next step.

There is not a Pearl out there in Football. The only reason I first liked Pearl was because of his past and didn't he defeat Kentucky in the Tourney. We got Lucky with him.. Martin never accepted and Tyndall a cheater, plus both followed Pearl. It will be easy to get a Coach to come to UTK and say we are going to give you xxxxx dollars and as soon as you start winning 7-9 Games if you ever do then we will drop you like a rock and pay the new coach 3x as much because we don't accept Mediocre teams unless we are not worth a crap.
