What do you want Butch & Co. to say at SEC MD tomorrow?

Maybe this would tell us everything: "Welcome back to Tennessee football D4H -- this season's for you. But, if you return to VN next year, it must be as username "IMnowfullySATISFIEDwithBUTCHJONESPLAYCALLS" or "1stDownRUNS-R-justOKbyME" and not something like JG4H or anything else like that."

I it ain't broke don't fix it.

Nah, #120 is stacked.

See you in Tampa.

ReaderVol if you happen to be watching SEC MD right now you'll see the SEC Network panel (McElroy, Booger, etc) basically saying verbatim what me and KB and fade and all the others have been saying all along.

"Butch has to stop coaching not to lose"
"Butch has to learn how to keep his foot on the gas"
etc etc.

But I'm sure they're just haters too.....

So they're parsing his every word and trying to say he makes excuses etc? Uhhh no.

As far as coaching not to lose? Relying on your defense when you have a lead is very common place at all levels of football. When it works people praise the coach. When it doesn't the coach choked.

That same panel also talks about how UT hasn't lived up to the hype and met expectations? Are they right about that? Ohhhh lol when they say what you agree with then BY GAWD they're smart. LOL

Like I said y'all are just a more articulate D4H.

As little as possible....

Something like:

"we're on track, but haven't arrived....yet...."
"We welcome high expectations....but still have to beat UGA, Florida, aTm, and Bama before justifying our expectations..."

"We're confident in our Team, Dobbs as a great person, great example, and great leader of Team 120..."

Jalen Hurd--barring injury--could prove to be the best back to play at UT--ever....

We will need to adopt the John Madden pregame mantra of the Oakland Raiders:

"It doesn't matter if the horses are blind, just load the wagons."

I really do expect this team to be special--but I also expected the 2005 team to be special, too! I just want us to SHUT UP and WIN--on the field where it matters!

No excuses....

GO VOLS!

Your post reminds me of what Butch said last year :)

Like you, I appreciate when Coach Jones keeps it real, deflects hype, has no response to smack, ignores bottom feeder baited questions, expresses respect for his peers and opponents, and directs conversation with earnest replies about Team 120, players, and units. When Jones is humble, insightful, and genuine, he's at his best.

It matters not what coach says today, what happens on the field is what truly matters.

I agree to a point. But I'm glad he's not a mouthy arse like some other coaches are. I like that our players are classy too and follow the lead of our coaches.

Butch.....what he's actually saying....

.@UTCoachJones: Dobbs, JRM and Sutton are great representatives for SEC, college FB. They're some of the finest young men in the country.

.@UTCoachJones: This is probably the most experienced we've been in terms of playing experience, but we still have only 11 seniors. #SECMD16

Jones: @UTCoachBobShoop and @UTCoachLScott have done a great job of building relationships as new members of our staff.

.@UTCoachJones: Joshua Dobbs' game is continuing to progress. Having him leading our offense is very comforting as a head coach.

.@UTCoachJones: You want high expectations. It's a compliment for how far we've come. But it's what you do with it. #Vols

.@UTCoachJones: One of the keys for us is having a healthy WR corps. We're going to have to rely on some true freshmen there. #Vols

.@UTCoachJones: #Vols RB Alvin Kamara earned respect of his peers immediately by his work ethic. He learned so much from his previous stops.

.@UTCoachJones: We're very confident things will run smoothly for the Battle at Bristol. Our people are at the track almost every week.

.@UTCoachJones: Great players step up and take over close games. Sometimes you have an opportunity to win, and you have to take advantage.

.@UTCoachJones: Everyone points to, what one game changed your season last year? I feel it was the Arkansas game. #Vols

.@UTCoachJones: I don't believe in just taking social media away from players. Everything is a teaching tool, so we monitor that.

.@UTCoachJones: DT Shy Tuttle will be about 50, 75 percent in training camp. We'll see how that goes. He'll start running next week. #Vols

.@UTCoachJones: Shy Tuttle is going to be a welcome addition at DT. We still have limited depth there. #Vols.

.@UTCoachJones: We don't look at the Title IX lawsuit as in the past or behind us. It's part of society. It's our job to educate players.

I applaud Butch for not making himself look like a jackass like certain coaches and teams players do year after year. He didnt even mention the florida guys comments. Its time to do our talking on the field and smash some heads.

Yes sir we have.

Some of our fans don't or won't recognize that we have. But we truly have.

They recognize but fans are tired of falling short, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. That goes way back before CBJ. I Want them to be better than good. And seeing our biggest rivals winning doesn't help either, especially while we were setting at home on the 1st Sat in Dec

Joshua Dobbs....

#Vols QB Josh Dobbs: It’s never a burden for people to have high expectations for you if you also have high expectations for yourself.

#Vols QB Josh Dobbs: We can’t afford to think about anything but App State. They were good last year and beat Michigan a few years back.

Thanks, KB, for some of the Dobbs transcript. I'm interested in what some of the players say.

Does anyone know where to find video of the players' Q&A?

I absolutely loved the way our players carried themselves today. They acted like true professionals. According to a lot of analysts, our young men were also the most engaging of any team so far.

No matter how hard the media pushed, they didn't bite on any of the trash talk questions or reciprocate in any way. I also love JRM's response about just letting his play talk.

And, I was even proud of Butch. He had about a million different coach speak cliches and people noticed, but he kept it simple and clean and didn't have any controversial statements. I would rather us come out of SEC MD being the boring team than the one that riled everyone up and has a target on their back for making bold claims you can't back up.

Bravo Butch and company!

Wait! Somebody told them about that? :)

Speak softly and carry a big stick. That should be our motto this year.

I'd like to hear Butch grab the reins and say it's time.

I'd also like to see Dobbs, Reeves-Maybin and Sutton act mature and be professional - don't talk **** like the UF players.

Basically, I want them to set the tone for the season and show how serious they are about getting it done now.

Thoughts?

I don't really want to hear anything. I've heard enough talk.
