What did you have for dinner?

Took the boys fishing. Made a campfire. So chicken, taters, and carrots wrapped in tinfoil. Put it on the fire. It was good.

New creation: Seared sea scallops over jalapeño and market bacon creamed corn. My wife gave it a 10/10.

Fresh?? Dang! I paid $24.99/lb at Fresh Market about three weeks ago.

Fresh market is proud of their meat. Honestly, they were bigger than what FM usually has, too. I used to hate Kroger's meat dept, but they have a couple of things now I jump at. Prime ribeyes, almost always in stock - $14.99, Angus filets, big scallops, king crab legs - $9.99ish, monkfish (fantastic, but you must know how to cook it), and ginormous prawns (nearly the size of a small lobster tail...incredible on the grill).

Costco is another place to find great deals on some not-your-everyday meats.

By the way, I don't believe scallops are ever "fresh.". Could be wrong, but they are often half-thawed, even at fresh market. The Shrimp Dock is one place that might have them not previously frozen. I haven't found that freezing bothers them one bit, just don't thaw in warm water.

Ingles is another place to get large scallops ("Colossal" they call them) for a reasonable price. Look in the freezer bags.

I'm sure. I just meant "not frozen when you get 'em."

We don't have a Kroger, or Ingle's here anymore. Our choices are Bi-Lo, Publix, Walmart, Sams, and Fresh Market. There is a Costco about 30 mins away, just haven't gone there yet.

I might have to give frozen ones a try. (I just don't trust myself to thaw them properly and not ruin them.)

Grilled rib eye, salad, and baked tater. I need to slow my role on red meat, but can't!
