What did you have for dinner II?

Some brisket and pulled pork from a bbq place here, with baked beans and macaroni
Ok, I seriously do not want to read any posts b!tching about Yankee cooking. There are differences, but once you get out into small city/town USA, you start finding a lot of similarities.

— Except for cornbread. They are clueless.

I concocted a fairly decent recipe for “Mediterranean” corn bread, and I was born to southern parents in New York State. So, as my great aunt said, I’m not a damned yankee, I’m a darned yankee.

Very, very rare situations, and if a restaurant, clearly advertised as such, meant for dessert, and not as a side. (Burnt once in an otherwise great Oakland BBQ restaurant.)
LOL, I'm honestly not big on either kind of corn bread. Southern goes with soup beans, of course. I like the sweet stuff with spicy food. Other than that I'd rather have rolls or biscuits.

In the 70s, there was a bbq restaurant on the east side of Nashville which featured hoecakes (aka Johnny cakes) - simple, savory cornmeal griddle cakes. They also offered white beans as a side.
