The past couple of years Fla. has set the bar in football and Bball. What have they done to get to the level they are at?

1. Recruiting
2. Hiring good coaches
3. Is it $$$$$?

Is there anything we can learn from them that you would like to see UT emulate?

It seems with out style of football we used to thrive on winning the close games. These days it seems like we find ways to lose those games. If we could recapture whatever it is we lost our record the last two seasons would be much better.

how to beat good teams and replace a average coach that recruits well.

I don't want to be a glorified poster, but I do have a lot of insight information on TN sports than I try and share on here. I have two people very close in the athletic department where I get us some information.

No offense but I've never seen anything of importance from your posts.

Florida is so successful because they live in the biggest recruiting pool in the nation. More talent comes from FLA in basketball and football than just about any other state.

Put playmakers on the field (even if they are freshmen), take advantage of their strengths, and put them in a position to make plays.

If UT wanted to see the success UF enjoys, 1 move in the right direction would be using high schools as farm teams. Do anything legally possible to teach the game and concentrate on fundamental football/basketball skills from Knoxville. Call it a social services if you like to keep kids away from trouble and in sports. If legal have Vols coaches visit high schools at practice times for example.

I think Tennessee can give the ball directly to their playmakers. I know you guys got some good recruits in this year. Direct screens and handoffs, like FL does with Harvin

Putting a beach around 2/3rds of the state to attract a large population base and richer high school talent would be a good start.

I think that altering the offensive scheme a little bit might be in order. Florida (esp. under Spurrier) finds a way to get the ball to talented players, even if they are under-experienced. A lot of this can be seen in the passing game, where less "field knowledge" is demanded of the receiving corps. It's more of a "you go there, we'll throw the ball to you" approach, as I understand it. UT employs more of a "read" approach, with a steep learning curve that limits the efficacy of its young guys.

Just a thought. . . .especially with our huge question mark at the WR spot this year.

harvin was the #1 recruit in the country and he still only had 400 yards receiving and 400 yards rushing for the year.

Well droski, they still had to make room for stellar plays such as the Tebow jump shot pass to the endzone..

my point is it's the rare rare true freshman that has an immediate impact particurally at any position other than RB.

You didn't do such a good job....400 yards rec and 400 yards rushing is very good for a true freshman in the SEC, especially considering their NC.

Care to tell us what state each member of Florida's two National Champion basketball teams is from?
