What are our insiders hearing?

This thing what ever it is will Defend Butch in one thread and bash Holley in another thread. Bash Tennesseans, bash those who didn't support Hillary . ...not worth my time

I believe Peyton said he would like to be involved with the program in some way, but that he didn't want to be a head coach. I say pick up the phone! There's a 50/50 chance he agrees-Offensive coordinator/QB coach- Of course you would probably want to go back to the pro-style offense. Imagine the talent that name would draw to Tennessee. QBs and receivers would be lined up to get to play on an offense coached by Peyton. JMO.

When all of you hotheads calm down--take a drive in the big truck--you'll realize that Jones remains our best bet. Hiring coaches is always a crap shoot--unless you can get a star, and stars are nearly impossible to get. We need somebody who can recruit, and Jones has proven he can do that. Les Miles would be a disaster--he's burnt out and was lucky have had some of the success that he did. That's why nobody hired Fulmer when he was sacked.

Tell me outside of the 2014 legacy class what has Jones done in recruiting that no other coach has been able to do here? Hell Dooley had top 15 classes, stop with this delusion that hes this awesone recruiter.

According to Rivals
Dooleys average class= 13th
Jones average class= 11.5

So is he really knocking it out of the park?

You guys do realize that Charlie Strong took over DC duties this season. Still managed to let KANSAS score on them. No thanks I'll pass on Charlie Strong. Bob Shoop needs to hire his own assistants. Instead of adapting to our terminology he needs to install his own. No way He can have top defenses at every school he's been to then drop the ball here. There's a disconnect somewhere and it needs to be fixed. As far as offense goes. Bring in Art Briles son (Baylors OC and their Offensive line coach). Butch shouldn't have his hand in anything other than special teams and timeouts.

Time for UT to take another try at getting John Gruden as coach. Maybe we can get Peyton to join also!

Giving Butch another year to half-ass his way through a season just puts us further down the drain.

This is what I am afraid of, by the time he is fired recruiting will be in shambles and the roster in as bad of shape as when he took over.

I think the rumor about a search committee relates to the idea that Butch's agent has put out feelers

University just doing due diligence to not be blindsided if it did happen even though it is unlikely

Hire Strong as DC, maybe bring Briles in as OC. Butch loses to FL or Bama next year, pull an LSU and hope Briles or Strong can pull an Orgeron

No Briles, id rather go 8-4 and not feel like crap as a person. At some point being a decent human being has to come into play

What a post. Shut down vs appyst, bad vs Ohio, shut down vs bama, 6 turnovers vs a&m, Oline was terrible until the weak (extremely weak) half of the schedule, dobbs accuracy issues since he was a freshman, shut down the entire 2nd half vs vandy, not to mention on multiple 3rd and 4th downs last night dobbs throws passes that have zero chance for a 1st down, 1st half shut down vs uf and vatech, I can go on all night. We were out coached by one of the worst coaches in the last night, as ut fans we deserve more than that. Injuries or not, we played mostly mid to upper Classmen.
He did say since the USC game...

I consider a disaster losing to Vandy and South Carolina with our talent.

yea this whole "butch is a great recruiter" myth needs to be put to rest.

his recruiting has slipped every year and continues to nosedive.

but, the fact of the matter is that it doesnt matter what kind of talent you bring in if you can't develop it.

Man, recruiting is about the biggest bagman. Stop fooling yourself. Jones is not a good developer of the talent he has. Winning football is nothing special for the most part. It's about executing basic fundamentals. We have good talent that cant execute fundamentals.

IMO, the biggest problem is we are soft. Outside of a few players our team has a soft mentality.
