What are our insiders hearing?

We lose fla, ga, bama, lsu and butch botches 1-2 more. Kentucky is on an upswing as is vandy.
We lose a ton of talent this year and I bet recruiting tanks leaving a bare cupboard.
Combine this with butch's lack of big game decision making and we will be a dumpster fire.
SO WHAT THE HECK ARE WE WAITING ON?
START THE REBUILD NOW!!!

We dont need a rebuild, we have plenty of talent. What concerns me is this team (with a few exceptions) is soft, and poorly coached. Just no way around it. Ive been a CBJ supporter until last night.

Just because you're hoping its not true doesn't mean its not. See my post from JAV in this thread, that guy is an insider and he begs to differ. Since you probably wont look it up ill post it again.

JAV, think he bolts for another job...even if it's a downgrade?
Yes. Not sure where he would go but he's got the look and sound of a man who's ready to get out. I wouldn't rule out a move to any power 5 school. I'm not sure Houston wants a Butch type coach. That job takes a different personality than the one possessed by Butch to be successful.
If he had a comparable offer he probably would, but I don't see any school outside of Houston offering that. And Houston ain't hiring Butch Jones.

Hire Strong as DC, maybe bring Briles in as OC. Butch loses to FL or Bama next year, pull an LSU and hope Briles or Strong can pull an Orgeron

Strong, yes. Briles, no. Briles is permanently stained. I could not support a UT program that hired Art Briles.

And it's "when Butch loses to Florida and Bama next year." There's no way we beat Bama with this staff, and Florida will have a serious chip on their shoulder in Gainesville next year. You trust this staff with that challenge?

Unless Lyle quits, we're stuck with him until Blackburn finds his man. And Lyle is way too proud and vain to do the right thing.

Go Vols.

They did make a reference to they wanted a coach to build champions of life in their press release

It must be just the defense then because you can't ask for more than the offense has given us since the SC game

What a post. Shut down vs appyst, bad vs Ohio, shut down vs bama, 6 turnovers vs a&m, Oline was terrible until the weak (extremely weak) half of the schedule, dobbs accuracy issues since he was a freshman, shut down the entire 2nd half vs vandy, not to mention on multiple 3rd and 4th downs last night dobbs throws passes that have zero chance for a 1st down, 1st half shut down vs uf and vatech, I can go on all night. We were out coached by one of the worst coaches in the last night, as ut fans we deserve more than that. Injuries or not, we played mostly mid to upper Classmen.

I'm just glad others are finally seeing what myself and many others have seen all along. We tried to tell you.

I've never started a Thread, but if I do, it will be:

"Coach drives $225,000 Mercedez, for the sole purpose of looking good so as to drive future Champions of Life recruits around town." Hood-wink?

I'm very serious -- these 2 pieces of the puzzle are not right. Makes me quite upset and uneazy about the $millions being spent by the football program for on-field results, only to produce champions of life for their (very good indeed) off-field results.

Butch Jones is a clown.

Losing this game to Vanderbilt is like Michigan losing to Appalachian State. It screams...."We Suck"

What a clown.

It's obvious every time Butch Jones regurgitates some crap line of spew.

Some of you know this as well as I do.
Jones is a tumor that won't heal itself.

Life as a Vol fan sucks right now.

CBJ is NOT going anywhere.

Wake up FANz.

Hart and the Hill will keep him. OilMan is happy, he owns the Browns for Goodness Sake.

You have to wake up and VOTE with you feet.
60-70K only in the seats is the ONLY thing to get their attention.
You got that right ! The one-two punch...1st the pocketbook and then allow new AD to settle in and survey the matter and feel his way around the coaching world. CBJ may see it coming and bolt and I hope this affects his buyout. He's here for 2017 IMO and I hope he does well but confidence is waning. Still have to support the team. Not buying tickets though.

That argument is worn out man, the SEC is not a dominate conference anymore...It's just not.

I didn't say the SEC was still dominate, but still overall a step up from the pac12...

Looks like Houston is looking for a Champion of Life - see ya Butch!

UHCOUGARS.com :: UH Statement on Head Coach Position :: University of Houston Official Athletic Site :: Football

HOUSTON -- A statement from University of Houston Vice President for Athletics Hunter Yurachek on the Houston Football head coach position.

University of Houston Vice President for Athletics Hunter Yurachek
“In his short time in Houston, Tom Herman elevated the Houston Football program to new heights, and we are grateful for his contributions to our program. The entire University of Houston community wishes he and his family continued success in this new chapter in their lives.

“We will immediately turn our focus to identifying the next leader of our program. We are confident we will find the right individual who will support the young men who are and have committed to this program and who will also support our mission of building Champions for Life, both on and off the field.

“With a Tier One University, fertile recruiting ground, upgraded facilities including a new indoor practice facility slated to be completed next fall and a roster full of driven and talented student-athletes, the next leader of the Houston Football program will have an outstanding opportunity to compete for championships, maintain our program’s national prominence and continue the H-TownTakeover.

“We are partnering with Collegiate Sports Associates on our national search and all inquiries from interested candidates should be directed to Todd Turner at Collegiate Sports Associates.”

Interim Head Coach Announcement
Houston defensive coordinator Todd Orlando will serve as Houston’s interim head coach with Houston’s bowl announcement expected on Dec. 4. Orlando, a Broyles Award nominee, has over 21 years of coaching experience including 12 as a defensive coordinator.

I really think Shoop is a great DC but something is not clicking, whether he needs his own assistants or not a fit. So I'm ok if we allow him to Tweak things. But if we were to make a change I'd like to see us bring in Charlie Strong as DC and proven OC.

Need to do more than tweak things. When half of the defense is looking to the sidelines confused right before the snap half of the time there is a problem. Injuries whatever, we are not being coached very well. PERIOD. Time to clean out. GBO!!!!

God, that sounds so possible and stupid. No coordinator worth a damn is joining what is clearly a sinking ship.

At this point I am not even sure those not worth a damn would come, they would not be allowed to bring their own staff or run their own scheme.

When all of you hotheads calm down--take a drive in the big truck--you'll realize that Jones remains our best bet. Hiring coaches is always a crap shoot--unless you can get a star, and stars are nearly impossible to get. We need somebody who can recruit, and Jones has proven he can do that. Les Miles would be a disaster--he's burnt out and was lucky have had some of the success that he did. That's why nobody hired Fulmer when he was sacked.

so 95% of the fanbase constitutes 'hotheads'? not exactly. 4 years man. recruiting is his lynch pin, and that is good either. i really want Butch to succeed. But we've seen the paintings and they dont show us a rosy picture. FYI even those who are most level headed fans are saying #itsover

You never get anywhere in life unless you are willing to take a few risks

The problem is a stupid ass AD who gave Jones a raise and extension for bare minimum work
