We've Been Down This Road Before.

Dooley has the job, making $3 mil---now he has to beat Saban, Meyer and Richt on a regular basis, or he will not be around long. It's very simple--either he can recruit and coach at this level or he cannot.

I fail to see how 12-21 wasn't an errand boy at USC. Seriously, I'll have faith in this hire instead of listening to the guy who said Bob Stoops was 50-50 to UT. Thanks anyway.

Is anyone surprised that the abundance of negativity attracted his highness into the FB forum. In case you haven't heard, we've got our coach, and we are behind him!! Go back into the BB forum and try to convince everyone that the coach that just went 3-0 against no's 1 and 21 with 6 schollys can't coach- ha. Peace HOMER.

is he really getting $3MM a year

I didn't like the hire. That said, it is what it is. It's done. No amount of griping is going to change the cold, hard facts. I'm moving on and supporting the guy and hoping for the best. A lot of "great" hires turn out to be disappointments, just like a lot of "bad" hires turn out to be winners. I'm hopefully optimistic that we will work through this crisis and come back into prominence.

I've got news for you HatVol96, Bill Battle, heck of a nice guy/good coach, worked for the Bear only one year as a GA. Bill coached 5 years as an assistant under Doug Dickey before getting the HC job in 1970 thus his experience came almost entirely as a Tennessee man. Next time get your facts straight before mouthing off.

No offense, but you supported the Kiffen hire and we all see how that turned out as well. Hamilton needs to be fired for all this mess, but give Dooley a chance before you start trying to run him out of town.

Kiffin was a good hire until he left for a better job...I'm not sure why so many people are having such a hard time understanding this. It wasn't him being here that screwed us, it was him leaving and there's really no way Hamilton could have predicted that...

That Dooley once worked as an assistant under Saban does not mean much to me. There is a huge difference between having a Saban or Meyer and having someone who once watched them work as an assistant. Let's hope the difference is not as dramatic as the difference between "lightening" and "lightening-bug".

One is a word and one's not...:)
I agree with the rest of your post though

The WAC has two good programs, Boise and Fresno. Hawaii has its moments. The rest of that league is utter filth. If you are three years into a tenure in that conference and are posting a 4-8, I don't want to hear excuses. You aren't very good. Period.

This makes absolutely zero sense. Boise and Fresno are two good teams so it's acceptable to lose to them. However, it's not acceptable to lose to LSU, Nevada, Navy, and Auburn? That's 6 of the 8 losses.

Hat would rather focus on the other two losses to the "worst programs in Division I (although research proves that is not the case)."

If you're going to talk about losing to 2 teams you shouldn't lose to, it's hard not to mention UCLA and Auburn this year.

What research? That highly scientific CBS poll that had UT 20th this year? Find me two programs worse than Utah State or New Mexico State the last ten years.

You're really trying to sell Nevada and Navy as good teams? My question is why all of the Dooleyites aren't furious Hamilton didn't hire Gary Crowton. He won 60% of his games at Tech. I believe that qualifies one for automatic induction into the College Football Hall of Fame and makes one a candidate for a Nobel Prize.

Let's not bring up the Nobel Prize.

Dooley parlays a 17-20 record at Louisiana Tech and Crowton's 21-13 record there didn't even get him an interview from Hamilton.

I'm just saying that it's completely unfair to judge him on one year's record without looking at the circumstances. The fact is that he started with 4 games on the schedule that he had absolutely no shot to win.

its all about personality and what fits right with a certain school at a certain time. Dooley is our man who cares who is angry

OK, I'll go with his three year record. That's 17-20 at a WAC school. Does that make you feel better?
