We've Been Down This Road Before.

There's a good chance that if none of this ever happened we are sitting at 2-6 after 8 games next year. That is the most intellectually dishonest argument you've ever made on this board.
No, it isn't. The staff that just departed got .500 football out of a team with very little talent. They would have added a couple of JUCO offensive linemen and gotten that out of next year's team, at worst. Now, UT is in a position of hoping Oregon, Florida, and Alabama get lost on the way to the stadium, less we get beat by a Fulmeresque margin by all three.

I don't really see the difference between Lane Kiffin and Derek Dooley really. They are about the same guy, as far as coaching goes.

It's a better outcome than giving him a sham interview, then hiring a guy who finished the '09 season 4 games under .500 in one of the two worst leagues in Division I.

Denny Green and Jim Caldwell say that your basing a coach's wealth on a few years at a dumpster fire program is flawed.

Those guys had to try and beat the Michigans and Clemsons of the world with limited resources. Kid Gynomite was competing with Utah State, New Mexico State, San Jose State, Idaho, et al.

I guess Auburn, LSU, and Boise State are cupcakes Atticus.

Not trying to be argue either way but I'll throw out there that Dooley took La. Tech to their first bowl game in 30 years.

Good chance that any doofus could have accomplished that though.

Go Vols.

You forget to take into account that he was also the AD at La Tech and made considerable progress rebuilding that athletic department. He couldn't fully focus on football because of being the football coach/AD simultaneously.

And Auburn, LSU and Boise St.

I would have been fine with Kippy.

Edit: Had he been give the job in full.

Same here Beecher. All we can do now is see what Dooley can do.I'm not going to bash him until he gives me good reason.Still, I think we should have went with Kippy. It seems like he didn't get a fair shot, and I have a feeling when the dust settles the media is going to have something to say about it...and rightfully so if this is the case.
