Can't you people just let it go? This man is the coach and crap like this thread is in no way helping the Vols. Get on the Vol train or exit please!

This isn't the first time we've hired an errand boy for a championship winning Alabama coach. Bill Battle came to Knoxville after serving his apprenticeship under Bear Bryant. Look how well that turned out. On the bright side, at least Doofus never coached in Tuscaloosa.

Bill Battle was 28 when he took the job. His experience didn't extend beyond Army or Tennessee. He never worked on Bryant's staff.

Derek Dooley is 41 now. He has considerable experience in college and pro football. He was a head coach in a rebuilding situation.

You know these things. But when the lie fits better than the truth in forming your argument, you will go for the lie every time.

Not really. The comment about Kid Gynomite having not coached in Tuscaloosa was directed at the fact he didn't follow Saban from Miami.

I guess it's just easier for some folks to be negative until they have a reason to be positive..... I'm not completely sold on this hire myself but I'm willing to give the guy a fair shake until he proves me wrong. If hat (and others) want to go negative right off the bat then it's their prerogative.

He's not being negative. He's going with what he sees. The reason I keep defending this is because I basically see it the same way.

I don't want to speak for hatvol, but I feel somewhat the same way. My perspective is this: I think MH should have left Kippy as head coach thru the signing period and continued to search for a coach. IMO, he was asking other head coach's to leave at the same time before signing day, just as LK left us, and we know how unpopular that was. I think MH kept looking til he found anyone that would jump now and accept most of the asst. coaching mess he created. I am a Vol fan and DD is my coach for better or worse. But, out of all the vacancies out there, how many had DD as a perspective coach? I think none. He played at Virginia, I don't remember seeing DD as an interviewee at their last search. With daddy as GOD at UGA I haven't seen DD as a possible asst. coach in thelast 5 plus years. I just feel that MH has put us in a hugely deep hole and we should probably replace a HC and AD here in a year or two. I hope to GOD that DD can show us something, but as of now I am not impressed.

When did Battle coach under Bryant? And in what way can you possibly compare the hiring of a 28-year-old barely out of college with a veteran coach?

You are either ignorant about Tennessee football or you are flat out lying to enhance your argument against a coach you know little about other than his wife's profession.

Plenty of books about Tennessee football out there. Need help finding one before you post on this forum again?

When somebody has the answer to the million dollar question let me know. 'Til then, I'll keep telling myself this is the only guy who wanted the job and for that he shall have my support.

No, you need help removing your head from Dooley's colon? I know plenty about the clown we hired. While other guys from Saban's LSU and Alabama staffs have moved on to big time programs and the NFL, Kid Gynomite has been toiling with a mediocre record in a jerkwater league. If a guy with a famous dad and Nick Saban as references is at a cesspool like Louisiana Tech, it's not hard to figure out they suck. When UT is sitting at 2-6 next year, I really want all of you "Let's give him a chance" wailers to come on here and take your medicine. Tennessee just hired a guy who went 4-8 in the WAC, three years into his tenure. Can't wait to see what magic he has in store for his third year in Knoxville. I hope Idaho isn't on the schedule.

It's amazing how simple the world is when everyone knows where they stand. Milquetoasts and fence straddlers are more detrimental to this country than al Qeada.

AMEN to this...

skeptical, OK
ridicule, "doofus", really??
Yeah, because if one of our league rivals had hired this guy we would be saying what a brilliant move it was. Just because he slaps on an orange tie and babbles about having watched the Johnny Majors show as a kid doesn't make his hiring any less idiotic.

You've apparently got a pretty high standard for what constitutes "negative".....At least hat hasn't called Dooley a "hilljack" yet. I'm sure it's coming though....

And if Dooley makes good you'll have a dose to take yourself.....
