Westbrook Gone

Yeah...because “leaving” only equates to transferring. Almost all of our players whether they transferred or went pro, looked MUCH BETTER in a defined, well-coached system. Westbrook will as well.

The real question is how our players that stay will look under the new coach ... whether she looks better or not is sort of irrelevant if OUR players that decided to stay look and play better

Anyone who thinks Westbrook leaving is a good thing are sadly mistaken and don't know anything about basketball. Evina is an elite guard with a ton of potential, and this program completely squandered her abilities under a poor head coach and misguided fan base.
I'm sorry to see her go, and I'm very grateful she spoke up against Warlick and the coaching staff. Players should and do have the right to speak when things aren't right.

That really sucks. I was hoping that the coaching change would be enough to keep Evina in Knoxville. I'm sure she's frustrated knowing she wasted the first 2 years of her collegiate career playing for Holly, but this team has the potential to be really good if the right players stick around to lead the team. It would be a huge plus for Kellie if the best player on the team gave her a chance, but life will go on. If she does leave, I hope she ends up somewhere that's a good fit for her and she becomes the player that everyone thought she'd be coming out of HS.

Sometimes you can't keep them no matter what. But sometimes you want to let them go. I've had two athletes in my lifetime that I've said the the following words to... when you go, understand this, I will build a better version of you and beat you with her.

Well said, I was hoping to see all that potential get a second chance at doing big things in Orange and Blue. I wish her well. She is super talented, just needs to find the right coach and system. I think many posters underestimate how poorly Holly managed her personnel, very little player development occurred and nobody ever seemed to really "know their roll."

One would think with Decosta not getting much if any Playing time this year at baylor she could possibly transfer to Tennessee ? Evina wont be a huge blow bc of Horston coming in with pretty much the same skill set and court vision .
A Decosta transfer would be nice, but she looked TOO happy when they won the "natty"...I don't see her leaving Baylor unless something is happening behind closed doors...Baylor is losing some scoring and rebounding from this years team, but most of their great 2018 signing class [with the exception of NaLyssa Smith] barely played this last season...they should be primed for next season...2019 class contains only 1 signee...

AMEN! It’s ALWAYS someone else’s fault. #BlindAsses

Agreed, each time a player left it was "well the cancer is gone, now Holly can straighten things out." Players were never the problem, not saying they don't have their own quirks and difficulties, but a good coach rounds those out and figures out what motivates their players. Holly was incapable of doing so. I hate that every time a player leaves people act like all the problems were the fault of that one person and things will magically be better.

Evina wasted 2 years playing for Holly, who was then fired. Neither Holly nor Evina will be getting revenge on each other in this scenario. All it amounts to is the wasted potential of a very gifted player who feels like coming to Tennessee was a bad decision because she played for a crappy coach.

It's confirmed. She is transferring. Kellie's statement is below:

"Evina and I met to discuss her future, and she shared with me that she has decided to transfer. We wish her well."
Best of luck to her...I was a fan...But time to move on...I think this is best for all, especially for CKH...GO LVFL 🤙🧡🏀

Here is something that is easy to see and for those that can read between the lines with a lot of these coaches. Ill give you two scenarios.

1. Sabrina, knowing she was the number 1 pick, elected to stay in Oregon.
2. Jackie Young left as quick as she could.

Look at this just face value. This is very telling.
Those are two totally different situation. Jackie has already won a NC and most of the talent on that ND team was graduating. Sabrina has most of her team coming back and she has some unfinished business to tend to.

It would seem EW was not impressed with Harper's vision for the program.

So much for next season...

Or maybe KJH would not make certain guarantees that Holly offered; or maybe Evina was just homesick; or maybe Evina's mom really pushed for her to leave (per social media post); or maybe Evina felt that she just wanted a fresh start after things had turned sour; or maybe there was some internal tension with other players that could not be easily resolved; or maybe.....

EW had her mind made up for a while. I realize she is a good player, but she is inconsistent and a turn over machine. She also had become a sore that would not heal. Don't worry about her and recruit someone better.

No one including a coach can help someone that does not want helped!!! Kellie would have been good for her but I would bet money some arrangement were made before the interview after the UCLA game. Her overbearing mother let the cat out of the bag 2 months ago!!!

Yeah I’ve heard the company line. Logically, I’m not sure why she would continue to participate in team activities and practice if she wasn’t open to the possibility of returning though.

So far Homerun Harper has hired her husband (who does NOT report to her btw) and failed to keep the team’s best player. But gosh she sure looks like Pat...

Westbrook leaving is one of the BEST things to happen to the Lady Vols basketball team in a long time.

She will soon be forgotten.

Funny thing is the team’s other co-leading scorer is still here (for now) and second leading rebounder.

She also kept all three of UTs commitments.... didn’t want you to leave that out (one of which was the team USA MVP and McD MVP).

So the team’s Assist leader and Co-scoring leader is leaving yes... I have always wanted EW to stay but by no means thought she was our best player. She was our best player in many games but Rennia was our best player in others and to me has the higher ceiling. While she does disappear a proper coaching staff will keep that to a minimum and raise her level of play.

So while you’re throwing shots at her husband why don’t we see if this team (of coaches) can bring out the best in the ladies ...

So instead of giving another coach a chance to showcase her “potential” abilities she quits on the team and university. I can assure you someone will step up and make up for the points she gave us and hopefully not the Turnovers she gave us. Best of luck to her.

In all my postings I meant to wish Ms. Westbrook the best.

Just not against the LV if ever their paths shall cross again 😁 but feel free to beat anybody else and have a great career 👍
