Oh, but it's ok to insult and slander a 20 year old who's given ACTUAL blood and sweat to improve this program? One who isn't getting paid 4 million a year to constantly underachieve?

And you're truly mistaken if you think this has any effect on my life past a few months in the fall and the few times I drop in to remind people he's an idiot.

Where have I done that? If you want to call it someone else then quote them. Also read the board rules of you think the name calling of coaches or players is allowed. They haven't changed

Like it or not but that "buffoon" has brought our football program back to prominence in his 4 short years here. It will take 2 years of .500 ball or less before he is let go IMO. I do not see him letting his team's get to that point. The majority was on board with his recruiting and the direction the program was moving until this year. Now they are ready to trash everything and start all over. Make a home run hire and I'm on board, hire the 4th or 5th man on the list and I'm out.

He's been able to sell HOPE so far....because expectations were so low. And truly, he has done an admirable job up until last year in spite of the fact that he choked away 2 obvious wins in 2015.

Injuries are the ONLY reason you guys have some small ray of hope left in CBJ.....But it was actually TURNOVERS that doomed the 2016 season.

This recruiting class has some very good players, but is clear evidence to any reasonable person that CBJ has LOST his ability to sell HOPE to the elite talent.

He hasn't beaten ONE single team from the West in 4 years....Very hard to sell potential SEC championships with those stats in the books....

Prominence is about as silly as saying he's Dooley.

Nobody is happy with Butch. That doesn't mean we have to make up reasons for not being happy by choosing stupid things to get up in arms about.

We dont have to make up reasons, butch does enough on his own, you know, blow big leads in games, not having the team ready to play in games, not beating muschamp, being 2-2 against vandy, sounding like an idiot during press conferences, not developing players, poor coaching hires, now a lack luster recruiting class. Anything else? Oh yeah, not winning the east in the past two years, when it was ours for the taking..

I agree with a lot of that. But this thread is a goofy ***** session over some coachspeak.

On the way to the 17th ranked class in the country? What?

I have seen instances in which a team had a great recruiting class but it didn't get wins on the field. Players were thought to be star players but ended up not measuring up.
I have also seen instances in which a team had an average recruiting class BUT THE STAFF COACHED THE PLAYERS UP

Not gonna happen here. That's already established.

I guess he better stop taking lower players so early from here on out hope he figured it out

It hasn't stopped him in 4 years but when that's about all you can get you have to take what you can get. That legacy class is the only reason he did as good as he did that year.

As has been the case the last 5-6 years, it's more about who we just lost out on that somehow, maybe, we shouldn't have, Whether because of a few bad losses in a season or sour recruiting, but, we have missed on some guys that had we landed really could have made a difference on the field.

From Von Bell to Jalen Ramsey in the past, to this year losing D. Gibbs, J. Stevens, C. Akers, and Higgins, where these guys would have given us 5 of the top 25 in ESPN rankings. Plus maybe 1 more in H. Johnson.....can you imagine the possible difference on the field.

I think the view should be the one's that got away that somehow, maybe, shouldn't have for one reason or another. But, think about the difference year in and year out where we have missed, screwed up, lost, or failed to bring in these top guys. Just one more of these types of guys in a class means a lot, and we keep missing.

Maybe he should have kept his mouth shut.

Silent press conference.

Those top recruits need to see evidence that CBJ's program gets guys drafted and ready to succeed at the next level. If Dobbs, Kamara, Sutton, Barnett, et.al. make a good showing on draft day and/or through the NFL season, that will make a big difference in our recruitment of 4 & 5 stars.

You can't really pin that one on Butch. That die was cast long before Butch was hired. The fact that Butch gained as much ground on him and made it as close as he did was pretty impressive.

"Butch: This year we had to turn away more talented guys than we’ve ever had to turn away."

Is he living in a parallel universe?

This is just unreal. I like Butch and trying to keep liking him, but the things that come out of his mouth either show a total disconnect from reality or he thinks the fan base is utterly stupid and will believe anything.

Goes back to sounding like an idiot in press conferences.

Then you should never listen to another coach give a press conference. They are always cliche ridden fluff. If you're lucky, there one or two pieces of insight every 30 minutes. Outside of that, you're just reacting to a narrative that's built around wins and losses.

Agree, just saying for whatever reason, the last 6-7 years we have had some get away regardless of reason, that could be the difference in our season.

Not knocking any coach or player, just saying what a big difference just getting one of these types of players could have immediately and we just seem to be missing them.
