Funny how certain posters whine constantly about Butch and his stupid cliches and stubbornness, while using stupid cliches and being stubbornly naive as to how they "sound" and seem to be just like him.

Also, I think it's interesting to consider that some of the same posters might see in Butch the very things that they see in themselves, and that is what solidifies thier opinion that he will never be better than what he is now.

Lol, I wouldn't bet a nickel on being accurate about that, concerning "some". I'd bet 5 bucks it is about 1 or 2, and I'd bet 100 that We'll never know. I've just had that thought sometimes reading the regurgitated trashing of everything Butch.

You should entitle this post "Fear and Self Loathing in Vol Nation".

Maybe shop it to some psychiatric journals.

Those top recruits need to see evidence that CBJ's program gets guys drafted and ready to succeed at the next level. If Dobbs, Kamara, Sutton, Barnett, et.al. make a good showing on draft day and/or through the NFL season, that will make a big difference in our recruitment of 4 & 5 stars.

It's hard to argue with someone who uses a John Prine song as a screen name.

I've said over and over people assume that Butch has huge plans. But his reality is that 9 wins is a fantastic year and 3 star talent is "top notch". He ACTUALY believes it. And truth be told having come from the MAC and Cincy these probably are the best athletes he's ever coached.

You gotta admit, he's not sounding too bright, not in this comment, and a lot of his press conferences..his coaching abilities dont look great either..

It's coachspeak. They call it that because coaches speak it. He's a coach.

The posi-Butchers will be here soon to say Butch was misunderstood again.

Butch cannot be gone fast enough.

Yeah and people will get all fired up for Chip Kelly and we will end up hiring some TE's coach who was once a head coach in little league...And people will be pissed and after a week or so of listening to him convince the nation they will get behind him and defend him to the end..Yadda yadda yadda...I've seen this movie too many times.

.....and they know that is more than likely what will happen, they have even posted those exact words, but they can't wait for it.

Surely there's some context to these statements.

Although, given recent his recent history, the context may be worse than no context at all.

Who cares. From butch perspective he has brought us from Dooley to winning a lot. I'd be positive too if I were him. I don't hold the first two years against him either. To me he is 18-8. He's one real good year away from having an incredible record.

"Butch: This year we had to turn away more talented guys than we’ve ever had to turn away."

Is he living in a parallel universe?

Butch lives in Bizarro World, where it is a struggle to get above .500 against Vandy and to get at least one career win against Will Muschamp.

The ones we turned away went to Alabama I guess, if you look at their list of recurits nothing but 4 & 5 stars..... Easy to see why nobody can beat them. Their list is very impressive. Take a look Butch..........

Clemson did. We out recruited Clemson according to some. Boom, mind blown.

Guess Clemson should shut down shop, fsu just out recruited the **** out of them. They have no chance versus the noles.

Ga should beat everyone except bama and noles. Why we even playing next year? You have it figured out.

Are you trying to be dumb?

We did not beat Clemson in recruiting, not even a little bit. UGA is one year removed from a coaching change...get real dude.

Check rivals. 247 they were one spot above us. Suck it.
If recruiting was all that matters, Clemson loses to bama, ga wins everything every year but should lose to bama in seccg. Suck it.

Exactly! Nothing speaks credibility and gravitas like mooching off someone else's talent and hard-earned reputation by anonymous, superficial association.

I must confess, I never knew Mr. Peabody's first name was Clarence.

We'll... what did he say EXACTLY and what did he mean?

He said they turned away (the):

More talent?

Most talent?

Most talented?

Even 2 and 3 stars have "talent". If they approached 100 of those this year that wanted to play for TN but only 75 of those in previous years, then saying they had to turn away "more talent" or "more talented players" than before is accurate. What did he mean? The largest number of players had to be turned down or the highest rated?

Nothing like an off the cuff comment by a UT coach to send VN off on a 200+ comment frenzy.

I don't know, but you'd be just as big a toolbag taking shots at a 19 year old as you are a 17 year old.

BS he was older than their other freshman QB. Check your facts

This is a fact his dad held him back a grade in middle school to try and gain an age advantage. One of those Dad's. This doesn't fit the trash our team narrative though. He will be 20 years old in November
