The day that I have been not looking forward to has finally arrived.

First I would like to say, I was raised as a Tennessee fan. My dad's family was from Athens, TN and he taught me to follow the Vols since i was extremely little. This has proved difficult especially living in GA. Growing up a UT fan in a town less than an hour away from Athens, GA in a high school that had like four Tennessee fans for me to talk UT football with, I have heard and seen my fair share of anti-UT remarks and jokes and it has giving quite a thick skin to the shots the GA fans take.

Now the had part, I am a student at UGA (thanks HOPE) and a member of the Redcoat Band. So far this season, I have been able to pass off rooting for UGA in their games and tape and watch the UT games (even as hard as that has been sometimes). Even as much as I grew up loathing UGA I have accepted the fact that it is my school and I do cheer for them occasionally. But tomorrow shall be my undoing, the ability to root and cheer for UT while sitting in tight quarters with 400+ die hard UGA fans holding hard and heavy instruments.

So wish me luck VolNation, that i can support my team while supporting my school. Maybe I can slip on my orange UT shorts under my uniform. :)

Hopefully we can pull the upset which just make my day so much better, and give me bragging rights for another year.

O wow your in the Georgia band? Bless your heart. So you are a Tennessee fan that actually has to play UGA's fight song? Wow. That is unusual. Feel free to play along with the Pride by playing Rocky Top tomorrow! :)

What do you play. I think you would make a great impression on your band mates if you break out "Rocky Top" during a lull in the band. Or perhaps break into it when the UT band does. :)

You mean to tell me we've got an inside man? You've got field access?

Do us all a favor, and take Fulmer out....I'm talkin' trombone right across the back of the head. Not enough to do long-term damage, but long enough to force UT to hire his replacement immediately.

I play baritone, which nobody knows of. It is like a trumpet but about 5x heavier and bigger.

and yes I have to play Glory! a lot. They say that Tennessee plays Rocky Top too much, but in all reality we play Glory!, plus all the variations (short, tag, angel tag, Dixieland) that all pretty much have the same melody.

I don't believe bursting into my rendition of Rocky Top would be wise for my health. Metal hurts when it hits you... :)

Haha let's see. Tomorrow our show is to the home side so I enter from the back sideline at halftime. You know this could be a possibility.

While I wish you all the luck in the world and glad you have not change your colors and remained a fan, why UGA? There are other good schools in Georgia ya know.

UGA has one of the best music schools in GA. With one of the the best professors of my instrument in the southeast. For the future it was the best choice.

Well, time for me to head out (yes, we have to get there this early for every game).

Go Vols!!!

I'm in favor of this.

if there was a gurantee that you wouldn't get killed, wouldn't you like to rip off your band attire and reveal a ut jersey, nwo style.
