First, i haven't read a single thread or article about Sat. nights game, and the only reason why is, if you can't come away from that game thinking two things, then i'm not sure i want to hear your opinion:
1. We really aren't that good.
2. A win is a win is a win, and i'm not giving it back because of no.1 above.

with that said, here's my take on this weekend's tom foolery that is called college football:

TN/SC....hm. i don't think we did anything particularly well. we had some good plays running and throwing the 1st half, had a couple of turnovers that turned in to points. and we were up 21 at the half.

I should have known when they came back to start the 3rd qtr and CPF was quoted as saying, about having a let down: "Oh, there won't be a let down.", that we were in trouble. and we were. for the second straight week we made a very pedestrian offense look like the Indianapolis Colts. 300+ yards rushing in the 2nd half. 21 unanswered points and an offense that, imo, played the entire second half like we were down 2 scores than ahead 3 td's. befuddling doesn't even describe how i felt.

the course of events thought that ensued to get the game to OT were perhaps the strangest set of events i've ever seen in a football game. First, AF's fumble, bounces 7 yards up field from the end of the run, and some how a reserve offensive linemen is 20 yards down field to recover the ball? then, it's 3rd down only 9 seconds to go and we have to go for the fg then, instead of calling a time out (i'll get to that in a second) cause we didn't have anymore. Lincoln on the field, and shanks the FG. and we're saved by a penalty, move it back 5 yards and on the do over, he drills it. i'm sure, just like they drew it up on the sidelines.

the timeout thing......let me just say i seriously questioned the use of an "icing" timeout with 1:24 left on the clock and you're going to get it back with time left to possibly go down and win the game late. Turns out, had we had that time out, we probably could have used it. anyway, it didn't wind up hurting us in this game, but i was literally stunned by that move.

Ryan Succup. it's not your fault. SC fans should really take it easy on him and just understand, the stars were in line, the moon was at the perfect angle......whatever it was...we were just supposed to win this game.

i don't know if it's possible to win and be as pissed off as i was. I think it was only due to the fact that i was still in disbelief that we won the game. i'll take it. i just don't necessarily "feel" all that good about it. and was it just me or did CPF look like he won the Super Bowl on the sidelines? maybe there was something to all that "hot seat" stuff after all?

anyway, SC did everything but win the game. sucks for you, good for us. sometimes that's just the way it goes.

We're in FIRST PLACE!!!!!! take that SEC E!!!

elsewhere:
FL/GA. this is the WOW game of the weekend. Personally, i loved the celebration in the end zone. it didn't really help, as FL answered with the good field position the ensuing kickoff provided, but nonetheless, i like the enthusiasm.

was very impressed with GA all around. they out physicalled FL, in much the same way LSU and AUB did. got a big play or two and Knowshan Moreno was stellar.

i can say with a great deal of confidence, i'm glad that's not the GA team that showed up on Oct. 6th. I can also say with a great deal of confidence that us playing FL 1st in the SEC is as big a disadvantage for us as there is in the SEC.

so, GA.....thanks, signed Big Orange Nation.

MSU/KY.....ha ha. it was a bulldog kind of weekend. that's two big wins for Croom, and a sure job saver. as for KY....just didn't look prepared.

Aub/Ole miss.......yawn.

Kansas/A&M......that was an impressive win for the jayhawks. all they got left is, now a look ahead game against Neb, Mizzou and Ok. St. they have a shot. beat OK in the title game...........rock chock, jay hawk.........KU.

USC/ORE.....ding dong, the which is dead. injuries have killed USC this year. Ore doesn't care. Ore is good.......but so is.......

ASU/Cal....cal, cal, cal.....oops, apparently there are other games on the schedule besides USC and TN. didn't you get the memo? the game that was the game of the year in CAl/USC now takes a back seat to ASU/ORE. Dennis ERickson is coach of the year.

PSU/OSU.......PSU just isn't that good. OSU gets credit for winning at night in the state of PA against that crowd, but PSU just isn't a team that i'm interested in using as a benchmark for how good OSU is. the Big 10 is yet again the Big 2. the rest of that league sucks.

and in the ACC.........wait, did they even have any games this weekend?

so after watching 7-8 weeks of games, here is my top 5 based on what i've seen:
1. ASU
2. LSU
3. BC
4. Ore
5. OSU

another great weekend folks...and please keep in mind...we DID win.....it took me about a day to figure that out too....but it's still a W.

It's possible.
I was too. It was a perfect demonstration of everything that the prior six games had held... in one game.

and was it just me or did CPF look like he won the Super Bowl on the sidelines? maybe there was something to all that "hot seat" stuff after all?

Was then... is now. This story is completely unfinished.

By the way, I'm convinced that Saturday's first half was simply the football gods making amends for the officiating crew that was sent to Alabama...

one more thing.....and i say this right now, knowing that we probably won't see another season like this for a while, but what can you really glean from watching a team week to week? we get all up in arms or really excited, week in and week out. each game is dissected and analyzed, and everyone is ready, including myself, to oust or retain coaches/players based on the results of each week.

if this year has taught me one thing, the season has to be judged as the sum of it's parts, not the parts independently. this year has proven the old addage, "that's why they play the games".

things i never thought would/could happen:
FL would beat TN by 5 TD's and be in 4th place in the SEC.
TN would lose to FL and Bama by 63 combined points and be in 1st place of the SEC E.
(sidenote here: anyone else rooting for Bama against LSU? i would love for us to win out, Bama to win out, and the two programs finally meet in the Championship game.....a rematch would be W O N D E R F U L imo).
huh?

Cal and USC are back seat riders to ASU and ORE.

NEB is the possibly the worst team in the Big 12 North. Kansas is possibly the BEST team in the Big 12 North.

Huh?

Wake Forest and BC are the two best teams in the ACC.

Miami and FSU aren't.

huh?

Georgia beats Alabama. Tennessee drills GA. Bama Drills TN. FL drills TN. GA drills FL. FL beats KY. KY beats FL. KY beats LSU. LSU beats FL.

now, you tell me who's the best team in the SEC? they don't say we beat up on each other for nothing folks.

this truly has been "one of those years", and i personally have loved it.

Go Vols......

Jacque McClendon never has to buy drinks in Knoxville again

That's funny because I felt the same way

Unbelievable as it is, it's true

Knowshon Moreno will no longer have to buy drinks in Athens

I'll take a W anyday

Go Vols......

Two Things:

1. I don't think Wake Forest can be claimed as the top two, who has Wake Played besides BC?? They are going to fall coming soon. WF has one of the easiest schedules ever, but they usually blow it up some how, kind of like how VA did this weekend. They blew it against Neb and had several chances to beat that team, but did not.

2. They played twice? :p

Jake, you're the man. I was as disgusted after a win as I have ever been in my life. I still say that we didnt win so much as USC lost. Blake Mitchell's now in the running for the Heisman.

We sure made him look that way. I know no one cares, but I wonder if he (Blake) gets the start next week or if SOS goes back to Smelly?

I would like to say that regardless of the numbers, regardless of the stats, regardless of the play calls and the way we all break down each and every play of every game, this has been an exciting season of College Football. With the risk of sounding cheesy, guys, this is a great season for sports fans. Sure the top 5 spots are questionable at times, but hell, they change quicker than the weather in Texas. The SEC is tossed over, upside down, and sideways, everybody has losses. Basketball schools are acting like football schools. I mean, come on! I think this is the most exciting season we've had in a long time, and I for one am loving it!

its definatly one of those seasons that if you would have said how things are going at the beginning of the season i would ask you for a shot of what your drinking. Its starting to somewhat return to normal, kentucky looks like they are falling apart, and USF has dropped the past 2,but well see what happens.

i can't even say that, cause down the stretch, they didn't really "DO" anything to lose the game.....honestly, i felt like "it just kind of happened".

really was the weirdest feeling every after a football game i've ever had. it was kind of like this all at once:
:banghead2::blink::whatever::question::wink2::clap::blink::eek:hmy::naughty::rock2:
