If you live in the Knoxville area, maybe even all of East TN, it will be blacked out, and ESPN3.com does adhere to blackouts, so it will not be available anywhere online legally if you're local.

If you're not local, then ESPN3.com, justin.tv or countless others.
I'm in Chattanooga. The UT game on the upcoming doesn't have "Subject to Blackout" next to it. Wonder if that means Chattown will get it?

Agreed. ESPN3 is not up to the level that ESPN360 was, at least from my World Cup experience. However, I do know people who were able to watch ESPN3 on fairly crap internet connections and get about the same experience as I did. So it should be a safe option, even if the picture quality leaves something to be desired.

ESPN3 is ESPN360.

The problem you ran into with the World Cup feed is probably due to ESPN3 being a provider for North America, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Middle East and Europe (sans Italy). The World Cup is immeasurably more popular than college football and with a far more compact broadcast schedule. Providing that much data pretty much all over the world will definitely strain their service.

While not a perfect feed, you should still be able to get a better quality feed with the UTM game.

I know they're the same thing, but they did a lot of tinkering when they re-branded it, and the quality is not up to par. I watched an ESPN3 replay of Tottenham Hotspur against Manchester City and there was freezing and lag. I had the same thought as you regarding the World Cup, but a replay of a random EPL match shouldn't have the same problems. So I chalk it up to ESPN3's changes being for the worse.

Does your tv not have an S-video port?

Yeah it does. It’s an older 60" rear projection that I refuse to get rid of because it stills works great, I paid a ridiculous amount of money for a tower entertainment center that wraps around it, and well.....I am waiting on the price of LED's to go down.

Problem was finding the cable to connect the laptop to the TV. Was told I needed a VGI to RCA or a VGI to S-video. Finally found them at a radio shack but they wanted $75.

Saturday's game is on ESPN Game Plan. It just came up this morning. I live in Virginia. Not only does VN send me a happy birthday message, but I get a nice present of seeing the game. I was worried I would miss the game since I'm house bound because of surgery. Stoked!!! Let's go VOLs.

Okay. I figured that you had either an older computer or an older set, which is why I mentioned the S-video. Darn kids around here won't let an old goat get away with anything.

well it is nice that everyone outside of the state of tn gets to see it free............it should be against the law to PPV the opening game of the season and black it out......guess I will have to pony up money to watch it.......anyone know how much it will be on comcast.

Last year some folks had some success watching UT games on channel surfing.net. However there was another site, it had a weird name that worked for me. Does anyone recall what that website was? It basically was a guy with a video camera set up in front of a tv.
