LOL. My position on JG hasn't changed and it isn't different from any other QB. You and a few others just get triggered at any criticism of him.... and you have a significant habit of not seeing what you don't want to see. I criticized JG this time last year for not managing the run game well. I've said CONSISTENTLY that he improved and that's now a strength. What changed? His performance changed.

I was VERY happy late last year when it appeared that JG was making some improvement in the passing game as well. Your posts clearly showed you recognized my willingness to see improvement and change my opinion of his effectiveness as a QB. Then... Vandy and IU... and those 2 or 3 previous games looked more like anomalies than improvement.

"Wishy washy" is an interesting accusation. So what you are saying is unless I make a definitive statement about future events that I have no control over... my opinion about the likelihoods are not reasonable? Would it help if I said that I am 85-95% convinced that JG's innate flaws will once again hurt him and the team?

Those guys claim he's reached his ceiling and it's time to move on, do you feel differently?

I've been very clear... but it doesn't fit into your "box". You want everyone to fit neatly into "camps". You have to ignore reality to do that. There is a "threshold" where a QB "is" good enough to lift his team. JG isn't there. He isn't as close as I would like him to be after his 4th year. I think that points to some innate problems rather than a lack of effort or desire by anyone. I don't think it points to circumstances since his aren't as unique as some try to suggest.

If his problems are innate as they appear to be... then he IS at or very near his ceiling. If somehow those problems are not innate or else the lights suddenly come on for him then I have ALWAYS said he has the physical talent to be a very, very good QB.

I want UT to have great QB play. Period. Absolutely do not care who it comes from. I have had problems with you and a few others because of your untethered defenses of JG... but I have absolutely no problem with the kid himself. As I've said many times (and you've predictably ignored), no one deserves success any more than JG does. He's stuck it out when most guys would have moved on. He's endured REAL hatred in real life apparently including death threats from people who need to be locked up somewhere. He's worked hard. He seems to be a pretty smart kid. He's been a good teammate. He's apparently a guy the coaches enjoy working with. He's improved in some important areas. I can and have consistently given him credit for all of that.

My criticism are of the things he does or does not do that hold him and the team back. They are specific. I've explained and pointed to evidence for them. That's not "hate". It isn't "nega" anything. It is simply recognizing that he has not played at a level that gives UT the best chance to maximize performance on the field.

I've never said that Maurer was there either.... or Shrout. But they were closer to where they should be than JG was. Maybe that all changes this year... but if say Maurer becomes a 4th year player and is still making bad decisions that cause him to throw 2 picks for every TD then I will be no kinder to him. I suspect you won't be so kind either.

Florida: Kyle Trask. Probably the best QB in the SEC East, but no one is going to confuse him for Peyton Manning or Danny Wuerffel.
Georgia: JT Daniels. Could turn out to be good, but hasn't proven it yet, and wasn't even expected to be the starter a few months ago. Jamie Newman (the much more acclaimed QB on Georgia's roster) decided to opt out and go straight to the NFL Draft.
South Carolina: Collin Hill. Transfer from Colorado State. Put up OK numbers, but padded by weak competition.
Mizzou: Sounds like QB controversy and none of the names really stand out.
Kentucky: Terry Wilson. He's OK, but not the type of QB that gives defenders nightmares.
Vanderbilt: Vandy sounds like an absolute trainwreck right now. Though, they will have one advantage this year, in that they are the SEC team most accustomed to playing in empty stadiums.

Unfortunately, we're probably not going to set the world on fire either with JG, but he could end up being the 2nd best QB in the East just due to weak competition.

Weakest crop of SEC East QBs in a long time....led by the weakest, Jarrett Guarantano.

Is this some type of satire? This is post for real? Did you SEE him try to play football last year? He’s awful. In 34 games played, you can count on 1 hand (maybe) the games where he actually looked and played like a legit D1 QB.

I dont know how this makes any sense. The SEC has pulled away in last 2 years in recruiting. Its my understanding that the LSU's, Bama's, UGA's Aubum's and even
TN loaded up in '19. I fully expect SEC dominance in next 3-4 years.

Well, if not he always has next year again. I feel like he has been here forever at this point.

Weird timing more than anything.

Tua and Fromm both left early for the draft. Newman decided to opt-out and go straight to the 2021 draft. Kelly Bryant and Riley Neal graduated. Jake Bentley left South Carolina, which now seems like a bit of a mistake, since he'd probably have won the starting job back.

Lot of highly-recruited young QBs without much experience. We'll probably have the opposite situation in a few years with the SEC being loaded at QB.

Beat defending National Champions . In first SEC game.
Beat a top 10 . In first game at Miss St.
All about to happen.

For all that would of been Giddy if UT had hired him...........to the ones that didn’t want him....
