Not sure if I'm the only one with this opinion, but it strikes me that this is the weakest crop of QBs in the SEC East we've seen in a long time.

Florida: Kyle Trask. Probably the best QB in the SEC East, but no one is going to confuse him for Peyton Manning or Danny Wuerffel.
Georgia: JT Daniels. Could turn out to be good, but hasn't proven it yet, and wasn't even expected to be the starter a few months ago. Jamie Newman (the much more acclaimed QB on Georgia's roster) decided to opt out and go straight to the NFL Draft.
South Carolina: Collin Hill. Transfer from Colorado State. Put up OK numbers, but padded by weak competition.
Mizzou: Sounds like QB controversy and none of the names really stand out.
Kentucky: Terry Wilson. He's OK, but not the type of QB that gives defenders nightmares.
Vanderbilt: Vandy sounds like an absolute trainwreck right now. Though, they will have one advantage this year, in that they are the SEC team most accustomed to playing in empty stadiums.

Unfortunately, we're probably not going to set the world on fire either with JG, but he could end up being the 2nd best QB in the East just due to weak competition.

UGA fans seem to think D'Wan Mathis will start for them since Daniels hasn't even been cleared yet. Not sure if that's a permanent thing or not.

Colorado State played Arkansas last year and I wasn't really impressed with Hill. Obviously he knows the Bobo offense but wouldn't be surprised if Hillinksi takes over midseason.

Damon Hazelton is a WR, assuming that was supposed to be TCU transfer Shawn Robinson. I know Mizzou fans thought Bazelak showed promise as a freshman last year but not sure how that will shake out. Wouldn't shock me if Joey Gatewood pushed Terry Wilson for UK but it will be interesting to see how they fare without having the insane athleticism of Lynn Bowden running all over everyone this year.

If that’s the case, does the SEC as a whole have really great QBs when the All SEC has Trask, Mond, then Bo Nix?

I think Bo Nix will be one of the better ones though.

I'm thinking JT Daniels is better than he's being given credit for. If he's good enough to run off Jamie Newman he must be decent...

Honestly, the whole SEC has an unusually weak crop of QBs.

I agree; Bo Nix might end up being the best of the group. He was a bit too mistake prone last season and his accuracy wasn't spectacular, but he was a true Freshman, so he'll improve. He has all the tools to be a great QB. At the very least, he's one QB on our schedule that concerns me.

I honestly think Newman didn't like what he saw at Georgia and decided it would be better to spare his body before going to the NFL. He was great at Wake Forest, so if he looks bad at Georgia, it's Kirby Smart and the OC's fault.

And it shouldn't be a huge surprise. That Georgia passing game was mediocre last year even with Jake Fromm.

Georgia has really good QB’s every year. I doubt this year will be any different for them.

They didn't have great QBs in 2015 or 2016. This year's team reminds me more of those. Loaded on defense, but lacking great skill players in the passing game.

Losing Newman seems like a bad omen. He was considered one of the top QBs in the country, practiced with Georgia for a few months, and then just decided to opt-out. That doesn't strike me as a great sign for them.

Hope it's a bad omen. Georgia's defense is top shelf good, but I don't see any way their offense doesn't take a huge step back, even from last year's average play. They lost something like 8 starters and most of the offensive line. I'm thinking the East may come down to the Dec. 5th game at Neyland Stadium (yes, I am currently wearing my orange-colored reading glasses).

D'Wan Mathis... He's a 6'6" dual threat guy.
We'll see. Latest article I read describing one of Kirby's pressers made it sound like the job is JT's if he is cleared to play in time. Either way, it's hard to for me not to think Newman's decision was heavily influenced by some stiff competition. Whether it's JT or Mathis, I'm expecting to see come solid QB play for UGA this year.

I think JG is going to have a great year. Coming into the season on a 6 game winning streak with coaching stability. He’s ready to go. Not sure why most don’t have high hopes for him this season.
He wasnt coached for almost 7 months this year...thats why Chaney lost weight. He had a lot less stress eating due to trying to coach JG up.

So, he is going to have another mediocre year due mostly to his current skillset and lack of coaching for months. The dude isn't "great" and only "good" sometimes.

Bo is probably most talented starting qb in the SEC right now. If he can make better decisions he’ll be real good.

I believe Trask will have the "sophomore" slump this year. There is no way he is as really good as he was last year. If he is that good, he wouldn't have been a bench warmer since his freshman year in high school.
