We support Jon Crompton

We'd have a better chance if kiffin would start one of the cheerleaders at QB... at least it would be exciting... what are they gonna do next year? start from scratch? why not start a freshman this year and let him learn... they're not gonna beat anyone anyway with jonnyboy back there!

We get tons of new posters after every loss...

We don't have a freshman QB on our roster. Next year Tyler Bray, a 4* QB, will be on the roster. He will compete, and possibly win, the starting QB job from Nick Stephens and Nick Lamaison.

If CLK is as good a coach as we think, he'll bench Jonny Boy. Like someone else mentioned, with few passing attempts he still had 2 INTs. You've got to be kidding me.

Stephens had 2 interceptions in 9 attempts against Wyoming.

Which would you prefer?

After the game, Jonathan Crompton in his remarks in the locker room said "this is why we come to Tennessee". And I wonder WHY we seem to have such fool fans coming out of the woodwork and acting as such idiots on a 22 year old who has had so many offensive coordinators that he can hardly blink at before he has to learn another scheme. I am VERY proud of MY team and MY coaches. "If you build it, they will come." Honey, they will build it and we will have so many young guys wanting to come here that we will have to "cull" the kids. They will be paying their own way to college to walk-on for TENNESSEE. Let's give OUR CLK and OUR assistant coaches "kudos" for a great game. 30 point spread - no way - Tennessee is coming back and I for one will be there when it happens . I have been one of the "Silent Majority" and have ALWAYS been there because I LOVE THE VOLS!!!

fool fans !!!!! you joined 3 years ago and have posted 2 times and call yourself a fan? if you're satisfied with one QB turning the ball over 6 times in 2 games maybe you should be a vandy fan? at least they're okay with being losers! IDIOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You call yourself a fan?
You don't know what our recruits look like...Hell...You don't even know what our roster looks like.

Good one. You're brilliant. It's too bad that I'm from Memphis but go to UT, so I figured it would be fitting to mention both, as they equally make me what I am.
But it's good for you. You've shown that you lost the war, and are scrounging for any battle possible.

Gotta say this was the first time since his first start against LSU that I had a little love for JC. He tried his best today. He listened to the coaches and played their game. Never a good QB but he gave it all and his all almost won.

the problem with crompton is that he freaks out in the game. hes not calm, cant handle the pressure, not confident, and just panics. He is a good athlete but hes just not all there mentally.of course everyone knows this but it doesnt mean he sucks. he just cant handle the pressure during a game.what sucks is that hes a senior and he has never matured none whatsoever.

You missed my point.
I was attacking the fact that from the beginning of the game, he wasn't allowed to throw the ball.
The first series had 15 plays, but only 1 pass. Sure, the run was working, but they still need to get the vertical game going.
If you don't get a passing game going at the beginning, it'll be tough to get it going later on.

Let's think for just a moment here.

We need to get the vertical ball going. Everyone knows it.

Yet we don't call the plays.

In other words Crompton isn't "allowed to throw the ball" as you said.

Now... it isn't like we don't have those plays. We have them. Coach knows that JC can't throw them.

You can tout the statistics about how many completed versus incomplete passes he had... but they were all screens.

They were screens and dumpoffs for a reason. Because JC cannot throw down the field.

Stephens is not near as bad as you are insinuating. You're picking on two quarters in Wyoming. I could just as easily look at 4 consecutive turnovers in the UCLA game.

Also don't forget that CLK said the competition was really close during both camps. I'm guessing if Stephens doesn't break his wrist in spring camp that he is our starter.

JC just doesn't have it. We all know. I want him to succeed. But I don't see it. CLK doesn't see it. We are a one dimensional offense because of him.

Can't you spell "Cocke", DA? Crompton wasn't the reason we lost today.

Yes he was. We are so limited on offense because of him. Just because he was babied and didn't throw 4 interceptions doesn't mean he didn't cost us the game.

The fool fans to which I am referring must be more like you than I thought. I DO NOT approve of putting kids on Craigs List. I DO NOT approve of death threats against a college quarterback. Who the hell do you think you are. Go away. True TENNESSEE FANS will be there no matter what. Quit your belly-aching and yell GO BIG ORANGE or shut the f---- up and leave this board. I don't want you joining in when we are winning and acting like you have been there all along. You can thank CPF for the state he left us in and sitting on his haunches while the rest of the SEC passed us by. And as for my only having 2 posts - well my bad - I have read so many blogs and am VERY well informed but there comes a time when I just cannot keep my mouth shut. Everyone has to start somewhere and MY somewhere is NOW.

True.

But UCLA is UCLA. Wyoming is Wyoming.

And no. There is no way that Stephens is QB. Ask around. Nobody will ever say that Stephens would have started. The only way it's possible is if Crompton was the one injured.

Yes, I would agree he is the worst QB in UT history. But seriously, he did better today than I expected. Lane's just gotta work with what he's got. If we had even an average QB, we would have won.

I agree for a UT QB with as many starts as he has....I thought Sterling Henton was the worst QB we'd had....til now...................I hate.........I wish so bad he'd play well, I didn't expect great, but good. Everybody knows we are running because Crompton can't keep from throwing ints..........I say go with Stephens....can't be worse can it? And at least if some freshman doesn't come in all hot, Stephens has that much experience under his belt.

True.

But UCLA is UCLA. Wyoming is Wyoming.

And Fulmer is Fulmer. Kiffin is Kiffin.

All I am saying is if we are having to game plan around our quarterback -- rather than with our quarterback -- we are in serious trouble.

If the competition was that close in practice and Crompton can obviously not cut it, what do we have to lose in putting Stephens in? Stephens will be here next year. Crompton will not.
