Not if you are a rational human being and take injuries into account.
Tennessee was missing 9 starters and as many as 14 total players from their 2-deep during the October match-up with Alabama.
If those guys come back and help lead Tennessee to victory over Alabama on a neutral site, it would support the argument that the only reason the October match-up was so lopsided was because of injuries.
Also remember, the playoff committee looks at how your team looks in December not in October. So if Tennessee wins over Alabama in the SEC championship game, that would be stronger evidence they are the better team than who won the match-up in October.
Regardless of injuries, no one gets beat by 39 points in their own house and has a legitimate argument that they are the actual better team.
The fact of the matter is, we are an injury riddled team, but we still got outcoached and outplayed in every facet of the game. The gameplan was poor, the playcalling was poor, the tackling was poor, just everything was poor.
We are still having a good season. We still most likely will win out and have a shot at ATL. But this idea that we are on the same level as Alabama or are possibly a CFB playoff team is ridiculous. People just look delusional for making the argument that we are one of the 4 best teams in CFB. IF we were to sneak in, someone more deserving then us would probably be getting left out.
