We need to have a talk about Glen ...

Big Ten football is about as exciting as watching soccer. I just don’t understand why anyone would want to play in the Big Ten with an opportunity to play in the SEC unless they are from the area.

When their records are inflated because of an overall garbage conference they look like eye candy. To anyone watching, they aren't any better than any top 15 teams, but they play in the Small Ten.

They probably have a massive NIL and just begged for him to give them a look. Then the big win over an undefeated Indiana though again it was against a team that hasn't faced a ranked opponent all year.

Hopefully we can hang on to the recruit, then the Little Ten gets exposed in the playoffs.

No one seems to be talking about Addison Nichols comments about leaving Tennessee, he said :"Coach Heupel's a great guy, a great coach and has a great program," "Couldn't say a bad thing about him. Definitely learned a lot through my time there, but at the end of the day, I JUST DIDN'T SEE MYSELF HITTING MY FULL POTENTIAL IN THE ROOM I WAS IN." Between those comments and hardly any development from his HS recruits and possibly losing Sanders Jr. to Ohio St. and the very average line play with upperclassmen this year ... Is it time for Heupel to quit being too loyal and fire Elarbee in the off-season ?
Yeah, because with Cooper Mays in the room he wasn't going to see the field.

Ok and how does his flip have anything to do with Elarbee? Where is that said that his ol coach is a factor? Do you even know who the ol coach is at osu?
This is common sense. If you were a recruit with a promising future as a potential first round NFL draft pick, wouldn't you care about who your position coach is?

" not hitting my full potential" can mean a lot of different things to different folks. I can't see a coach not allowing a player to reach his potential unless he's riding the bench
Yep, I took it as he thought he should start and if he aspires to play pro ball in any fashion. He felt he needed to transfer where he was promised a starting position to show his game.
Hey being around ball you hear rumblings all the time from family members and/or a favored hometown boy not getting the playing time that they think he deserves. I'm hearing it from a family member on a lower D1 team and I keep quiet or nod my head as I watch and hear retorts and quietly and in my mind only, agree with the coach, just to keep things civil;).

Who has Elarbee developed?
Every player in our OL room?

Those of you who think Elarbee is a bad coach have a short memory. Do you not remember how bad our OL was with Will Friend? Elarbee came in and we immediately got better. Darnell Wright went from looking like a potential bust to becoming a top 10 NFL draft pick. Cooper Mays has gotten significantly better. Lance Heard has gotten better this season. Andrej Karic has gotten better.

You don't lead the SEC in rushing with a bad OL coach.

If there's any red flags with Elarbee it's his talent evaluations, not his coaching ability. He's done a great job of taking other people's HS recruits and turning them into really good players. He has not had the same success with his own HS recruits. I can live with that though in the portal era, and it's just a "red flag"... the jury is still out on Vysen Lang, Jeremias Heard, Bennett Warren, William Satterwhite, Sham Umarov, Jess Perry, etc.

When was the last time Heupel fired any coach? From anywhere he’s been? Who was it? I sincerely want to know.
As a HC several of his Assistants Coach's have left for better jobs promotions if you will. He has never fired an assistant as HC over his 3 years at UCF & years at UT he has a 74% winning record through that time.

Maybe someone should ask Cooper about Ellerbe. Or ask Heard, a 5-star recruit, why he decided to transfer here.

No, instead let's quote the kid who couldn't get playing time and left, and make the leap to fit what was probably the OP's narrative to begin with for his ... second post. Great start, buddy.
Exactly, Low post count especially under 10 = Troll trying to cause division

He's probably an Ohio State fan. They must have some real boy scouts up north. First Michigan sabotaging our game against South Carolina a couple years ago and now this. They're trying to convince David Sanders that our fans think our OL coach sucks.

I don't know if it's evaluations or development but who is a potential NFL starter? Why so many holding penalties especially when Nico rolls out or takes off after the pocket collapses? I'm not qualified to know if Elarbee should be replaced but it's a valid question especially compared to the job RG has done on the opposite side. But he's not the only one. WRs may even be a bigger development question.

These are fair questions. I'd say only Lance Heard has a future in the NFL as a starter. John Campbell might be in the conversation if he didn't have chronic knee problems. Maybe Cooper Mays, but how many teams in college football have multiple future NFL starters on their OL? I'd have to do more digging but I'm guessing that number is in the single digits.

We just haven't recruited OL well up until the 2024 class. Umarov is the only 4-star OL on the roster that we signed between 2021 and 2023. Spraggins is starting as a 3-star and our 6th man in the rotation is a former walk-on. None of the 3-star guys Elarbee has signed appear capable, which is why I question player evaluations. 3-star guys should AT LEAST provide some depth by their 3rd year. I suspect that we'll have better depth moving forward as the 2024 class has time to develop, but only time will tell.

The Big 10 outside of Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State is just not very good. And that is on a regular basis. If Tennessee gets in the playoff I wouldn’t mind playing a Big 10 team at all, especially at home. The toughest games in a playoff would be another SEC team. OSU has a great program, but if you are a football player the SEC is the place to be.

Tennessee has done ok with He
The Oregon Ducks say hello. The only hiring Gabe they're played was at Wisconsin last week. It got exciting at the end.
i forgot about the ducks. Not scared of them either

Kind of torn here.
On one hand it's one player's thoughts on the situation...you obviously have to take into account position on the line, ask from the coach to play or not play multiple positions, talent level ahead of that player, incoming talent level, etc.
On the other, it is a highly regarded recruit and you have to wonder if there are others in that room that have the same feelings as well as the inconsistent line play and seemingly lack of growth during the season.
IF Sanders flips and others transfer out, or recruiting drops off for O Line guys, then I'm concerned as it leads to fire producing the smoke.

As far as second comment - THAT, in my opinion, is going to be Heupel's ultimate undoing here. He is going to hold onto a coach one or two seasons longer than he should have and it will be difficult to overcome in the long run.
well last 2 years everyone wanted Banks fired and ummmmm well

AP has said that it is being agent driven. Sanders agent is trying to squeeze every last dime out of whoever signs him.
Like I said, 100% dark side of NIL. Even the fact that college players have "agents" is a disgrace.

Why would Sanders flip?

Ohio State puts O Linemen in the NFL. You can argue boring, overrated, or whatever but they get guys in the league and if you think a guy like Sanders is primarily concerned with his college career, you're mistaken. Besides, Ohio State is ranked #2 and has been in the old CFP more years than not since 2014. Has UT?

Until Elarbee establishes real pipeline from UT to the NFL and UT establishes a regular position among the top of the SEC every year, Ohio State simply has the recruiting edge.

Wow. Thank you. Lots to infer from that, at least to me.

Run blocking is good no doubt, but pass protection not so much, and who has he developed that didn't already have pedigree like Wright and Mays ? Hopefully we get some hogs in the portal next year bc almost everyone is gone and sorry buddy they haven't been that good this year.. alot of the "stats" your talking about is mostly Sampson's elite athleticism !!
" ... almost everyone is gone." LOL.

We are about to lose Sanders, maybe because he knows Elarbee won’t develop him?
Why would he have committed in the first place if he thought the Oline coach wasn’t going to develop him? We generally are in the top of a lot of offensive categories do we think the Oline has nothing to do with that?

Pretty sure Karic will be back. Nobody is talking about the fact that he has another (Covid) year, but it’s available. Lance Heard also back. And Umarov.

Bennett Warren, LG III, J. Heard - all giants who will compete at RT.

Satterwhite and Lang competing at C. Wheel be find.

You will have to take the good with the bad with Coach Heupel. He is loyal to a fault when it comes to his assistants and its an inconvenient fact that Elarbee is among his closest friends. It’s also noteworthy that Heupel has never fired anyone from his staff; not even a grad assistant.

Lots go into that, how fast did Hendon get the ball out vs how fast Nico or Joe got it out? How quick did the WR's get separation? How many blitzes did they face then vs how many now?
Sure. Some of it may be on Nico, but there's a lot of times where the OL flat out gets beat or misses an assignment. I've seen Spraggins let a guy come completely across face and straight into the A gap untouched and it costed us an easy completion. I've seen Heard get flat out whooped on several occasions. Nico is a young QB. Everyone expected there to be a learning curve. Problem is most thought we had enough veterans to help him to allow for the learning curve.

That happens to ever OL in the country as well as every line in the NFL. Everyone gets beat now and then, instead of being negative about our guys, maybe it was just a good play by their guys. Their guys are on scholarship too...
