We need a mobile QB!

Of the QBs you just listed, D.J. Shockley is the only one I would truly put in the "dual threat" category. Mauk and Periloux had escapability, but weren't really guys the opposing defense had to scheme against. Leak and Campbell had no desire to run the ball unless it was out of fear.
Exactly.

What I don't get is that some of you would rather have a track star than a quarterback. I'll take a competent pocket passer any day. I can't really think of any occasions where Ainge would have won us a game on his feet, or for that matter lost any because he didn't run.

Campbell was known as a running qb his entire college career until his senior year. And Leak could run also...he just did it less every year as he learned to pass. And all the others had enough moves to make opponents "respect" their running abilities. Im not talking michael vick/vince young, but enough running abilities where they might keep a linebacker home or spy with a safety.

I dont care what kind of qb it is as long as it equals in wins. Tee was the definition of dual threat qb and everyone loved him because we won. I would love 2 c a qb that can do both again, but i dont care if he runs a 4.4 or a 5.4 as long as he can win us ball games and big ball games.

Jason Campbell was so well known for his running prowess before his Senior year that he ran for -1 yards his Junior year and 300 yards for his career.

Chris Leak had 137 yards rushing in his college career. The whole reason that Tim Tebow played so much was that nobody respected the QB keep when Leak was running the option.:hi:

There you go, using facts instead of assuming a QB could run because of his ethnic heritage. Why must you torture this board with your damnable logic?

Why do we need a mobile QB?? Tee Martin amassed a total of 287 yards in the 98 season for a whole 2.8 yards per rush. We don't need a mobile QB, just one that receivers that con stretch the field more.

Your stats are correct but Tee Martin won us several games with his legs. The Florida game in 98 he scrambled and got us in field goal range in OT.

Yeah, but while he had a strong arm, he was about as accurate as Stevie Wonder at times. He was never what you would call consistent. And not to bring up a whole other old debate, he refused to change his cadence in '99 against Fla.

He wasnt accurate I think he completed around 20 consecutive passes against South Carolina in 98. He also was awesome at throwing the deep pass.

Tee Martin could run and we had that threat if there was a need but seldom was there.

Tee WAS NOT a very mobile qb but one who could scramble when he had to.

Tee was a very mobile quarterback. He had good wheels.

Tee was just smart enough to understand that he didn't need to tuck it and run for the offense to be successful. He was a good leader, didn't need to be the playmaker on every down, and spread the ball around to his receivers and backs.

Tee probably could have run more than he did, but I think he recognized that he had 5 bulldozers on the o-line, Jamal Lewis/Travis Henry in the backfield and a coach who had just gotten done wit Peyton Manning.

I cant understand why he never saw any playing time in the NFL. I think the closest he got to playing was third string for the steelers.
