It's not after the fact. The team was loaded. It wasn't a bunch of underdogs. Lots of highly rated recruits on that team. I didn't say I expected us to win the natty before the season, but the fact remains that we had a bunch of studs at almost every other position. They didn't come out of nowhereEasy to say years after they won the Natty Bernard. But nobody in preseason gave us a chance to go all the way after our Lord and Saviour headed to the pros!!
Oh geez, smhI’m afraid this coming up football season could be a long one. By no means do I think we are bad but the Nico thing is gonna hurt us for sure. No way would we ever want to swap him for that UCLA/App State guy. I do think Nico’s family kinda runs the show but let’s not forget that the offense we were running last year wasn’t the typical Heupel that we know. Maybe he didn’t trust Nico and I mean we made the playoffs so not a terrible decision but we didn’t air that thing out like we are used to. That Oklahoma game for example had us all wondering why we are just playing not to lose when our defense basically won us the game. We took our foot off the gas pedal wayyy too much and I would rather us get out there and air it out. Back when we had Palmer, Jennings, Callaway it always amazed me we didn’t just give them a chance at a jump ball more because they more than not always came down with it. And you have the chance of a PI call. We now don’t have near as much talent but I think Matthews is that guy too so let’s see if we open it up. I’m scared our coach will just run and have them same little passes and screens. I’m thinking about 7 or 8 wins but when Faizon gets here it’s game on and we can get a natty. If he doesn’t watch this season and be like why am I going here

Well you might as well jump. SMHAll new OL, depleted WR room with no experienced starters, Superstar RB gone, significant losses on DL including Pearce : I was not fully expecting playoffs even with Nico given a lot of changed variables. What I was hoping was Nico takes a big step this year and we get to a respectable 9-3/10-2 type situation (outside chance at playoffs). I still think we get 8 wins without Nico. There is still enough talent to beat 8 teams. Who knows we might get lucky and beat the 9th one.

This team still has some pretty good studs and highly rated players! That team that won the natty only threw for like 2200 yards(tee had like 100 yards combined the 2 years prior) we didn’t have a 1,000 yard RB that season either. I think we have one this year and a few others with 500-700 yards like usual. This defense is also pretty good and returning some really good players and also have some young highly rated players coming in. This team though is going to have some growing pains. The OL actually has a much higher rated(star wise) rating than the one last year did. That doesn’t even include the 5 star true freshman that might start but I hope doesn’t as I hope someone else performs even better. I think our WR are going to be young, but I think Matthew’s, Staley, Brazzell, Smith, Jefferson and Jackson are going to show out. All of those were highly rated coming out of high school and I think with a QB that hopefully can put the ball on them instead of other throws will be a step up from White, McCoy and Thornton. It's not after the fact. With Hyatt and them our QB actually hit them often. Watching our past 2 QBs overthrow wiiiiiiddde open receivers over and over and over again was demoralizing. Once Heup started getting away from a wasted play, the defenses crept in and made our running game more difficult as well. If any of our 3QBs can hit deep routes where the receiver has 5-10yds of separation, then our offensive success will change noticeably and we won't require our defense to hold everybody under 15!I agree with this but would’ve liked to see Nico progress, but don’t want a guy that doesn’t want to be here. We missed a lot of long balls for sure but seems like once we did he didn’t try again in certain games. With Hyatt and then we took shots on the regular
YEP we better fold up the tent and go home, can't compete -it's over. I think I'll just drink beer and play golf this fall. Tennessee football is dead-
BAWHAHAHAHAHA Chicken Little post, LBK you might get roasted for this post. Hilarious - Vols 10-2 / 9-3.
8-4 seems like a safe bet at this point. Wouldn't be surprised if this season is similar to the gap year with Joe under center in 2023. Winning at bama and uf will be tough for sure and UGA has just absolutely had our number. The bad news is Nico's departure because let's face it, he was going to be the guy. However, I am not of the opinion that our QB play is going to be complete trash either. Someone will emerge out of the talented guys we have. The good news is that the running game has been good every year since JH took over and I fully expect it to be dependable in 2025. The D line and rushing attack won us our games last year. I know we lost some depth and talent from the DL unit but thankfully we return a lot of proven players like Bailey, Hobbs, Moi, West, Eason, and Josephs. If feels like Bailey and Eason have been here for a decade. You also have to feel good about the younger highly touted D line prospects to mix in with the experienced vets. This is year five for JH and he has another good class assembled to bolster this roster. The wildcard for me is QB obviously along with WR production. Those were trouble spots in 2024 for the offense. Hopefully, those two units take a big step forward in the right direction allowing us to compete with the upper echelon once again.
Yeah because Nico was so awesome. 8 TDs against SEC. 4 of those against Vandy. Struggling to get 175 yards a game. We’re really gonna miss it….. he’s what held the team together. Quit being such a sally.I’m afraid this coming up football season could be a long one. By no means do I think we are bad but the Nico thing is gonna hurt us for sure.
