We’re talking playoffs???

Book it Notre Dame will be in if they win out, and I don't see a decent team left on their schedule. I don't think they should but I think the committee will put them in. Because of the way the committee looks at things is why in this day and time you should put all the points possible when you play a team. For example both us and Notre Dame played Ark. and they will also play Syracuse. If we both end up with identical records of 10-2 they will look a the point spread on those two games. In the old days we did the right thing of not scoring on our last drive against Ark. but in todays game, you score if you can.

If Tennessee is 10-2 and misses playoffs…who cares.

I’m more worried about if we go 9-3 or worse.
Lose to OU at night at home? 🤢
Lose to Turds on the road. Again? 🤢🤢
Lose to Vandy. At home? 🤢🤢🤢

Is 9-3 really a significant worry? Going into this season with a new QB and without our best corner, you thought 10-2 or better?

I think what he means is if we take care of business, win out, and still somehow dont make the playoffs then its due to circumstances out of our hands and there would be no reason to be upset with ourselves with how the season transpired.
Yeah, that makes sense. At this point all you can do is win and let the chips fall. It’s just my opinion that a 10-2 TN is deserving of and will make the Playoff. Then again, I don’t think a two loss team made it last season so what do I know? I’m fairly certain that TN has a better team than several that will make it, but I guess there has to be some type of parameters for the cut-off.

You know as well as I though, that if you guys win out, you should be in the playoff. Who you lost to and how it happened should make a difference.

Less than you realize! LOL!

WE were a 2 loss team last year and made the playoffs!

Sorry. I wasn’t clear enough. I think the discussion is crazy for how the last 7 months went. For the hand we were dealt, we’re doing ok. And just the fact we’re still having this conversation going into November is kinda wild.

Notre Dame was national runner up last season while the Vols were one of the opening round embarrassments. Just go to a Florida bowl game if the squad doesn’t want to be there or is not qualified to compete for a championship.

Anyway the Vols could improve down the final stretch and be a worthy playoff team - we will know much more after Oklahoma. The squad appeared to improve at Kentucky so it could be fun to see what happens.

Need to take care of OU first.
1. I personally would still prefer being in the top 12 playoff spots and completely embarrassed in the first round than any other bowl game. Why wouldn’t we want to be top 12
Instead of an afterthought? Rather miss the playoffs and win an afterthought bowl game by 20?

2. Yes. Everyone knows.

With this defense it is not looking good for playoffs. We going to have to score in the high 30s or 40s to win games.

Yes, our defense is faulted. Before Angeli was injured, though, Syracuse put up 34 points @ Clemson. Mississippi State just put up 38 on Texas, and Arkansas scored 35 on Ole Miss and 42 on A&M. All of those point totals are higher than our defense allowed against the same teams.
They always leave them things out. GBO! Just keep winning! GBO

That would be true....Heupel and company aren't noted for their portal gets however. The last I read they were one of the worst in the country this last cycle. Why with our glaring needs at several positions?
That’s bc we don’t overload on #’s like an FSU or Colorado. Their culture is garbage and why they’ve fallen apart the past couple of seasons. We probably should’ve grabbed another wide receiver in the offseason and maybe held on to a safety, but most of the guys we’ve brought in from the portal have been big producers and had significant roles over the past few seasons . I really don’t have a problem with CJH and the staff’s formula when it comes to mixing recruiting and developing guys and bringing in the right type of guy from the portal.
