My watch told me I should work in a nap yesterday. Didn’t happen, but I think I got good enough sleep. Although it somehow thinks I woke up for an hour while I was asleep last night

I like when mine tells me that I slept for 7 hr 23 min, but that I got my stand times in every hour through the night.
Mrs Wireless gets furious when she finally sets down and her watch tells her to stand up....... I think it's because her wrists are so small...... or because Apple is from satan

Neither Fitbit nor Apple ever credited me for kitchen time, even though I continually move back and forth from the range to the main sink and fridge, then back again. I don’t think that they start the countdown until you’ve moved 10 or something steps without pausing.

I don’t remember if it was Thanksgiving or Christmas this past year, but on of of them, I didn’t get any stand hours (one minute per hour) for three hours straight, while cooking non-stop for 3 1/2 hours.

It is possible that the grandkids learned some new words from me that day

Oh, and (this still bugs the fire out of me), there isn’t a setting for Serious Housework or for gardening.

It is possible that I could never legitimately use a Serious Housework activity/exercise setting, but my version of gardening consistently gets my pulse up to 115 bpm, which for me is really high. (I have a naturally slow heartbeat of around the mid-50’s + I’m 69 and I can’t even hit 120 anymore.) Plus there’s a lot of lifting 40# bags and digging and all. So gardening is logged as yoga.

And singing (3 different choirs + voice lessons with surprising heart rates and muscle use) is Core Training, lol. (Try classical singing before you laugh - it’s a workout)

You like the new app update? I hate the nap thing and I ain't the only one. 99% on the Garmin forum hate it. Hoping they figure out a way to turn it on/off.

Other than that I love all the updates.

Im gonna have a tough decision soon though. Samsung is finally coming out with a "game changer" next month. July 10th to be exact. The new Galaxy watch Ultra. Multiple GPS like Garmin, the same as body battery and training readiness but called something else, capable of glucose monitoring either at launch or near future, and the 6 already has all the other stuff I wish Garmin had. It's supposed to compete with the latest Apple Ultra.

I still love my 965 though and as good as the ultra might look, I have much trust in the accuracy of my 965 that I'm not sure can be replaced.

Anyway, we'll see.

The nap feature just doesn’t work for me. Only times it measures a nap is if I wake up too early in the morning and I finally get back to sleep 30 minutes later. It’s never once registered a real nap and I have taken a few, especially the past month or so. But it’s told me like three times to consider taking one.

I really like the new layout of the app. Simple, clean and it all makes sense. Work has a list of acceptable watches and the 35, 55 and I think even the 255 are acceptable. I might get the 55 just so the app will sync all my steps.

You probably already thought about it but if you're just gonna have to wear it for a short time I'd think about getting a renewed one from Amazon. Might save you a few bucks. Just a thought.

That's cool you can at least wear something decent, I thought you were gonna have to go to just a plain Jane step counter with a time display.

it's a three year assignment, so I'll want something at least somewhat worthwhile. I didn't know about the option of the lower level Forerunners being acceptable.

So, the news I wasn't ready to divulge, but I guess it doesn't really matter: I'm no longer a North Carolinian. I'm still a Carolinian though. You're smart enough to figure that out... Trying to close on a new house and things are getting wonky.

I was wondering about whether you were still in Mayberry.

Hope all the Legos survived the move! Good luck with closing, bwah hah hah.

I already know they didn't, even though everything is technically still in storage until I close. After the movers packed up I found a piece of the VW Beetle in the floor....

aaarrrggghhh

As a way-grown-up Army brat, turning 70 in October, I still flinch when I see an Allied Van Lines truck rolling down the interstate. So many things just never seemed to make the move...

@volwindy

If you have a Samsung S22 or newer phone, your watch is getting some helpful AI health updates soon if not already available.

I'd tell souce too but he already knows.

Did you ever get a smartwatch/sports watch? I'm gonna sell my Garmin 955 now. I'm supposed to get my new watch on the 25th, when I do I'll sell the 965. I'm planning on putting them on Swappa. If you're still interested both are like brand new and I have the original packaging too. Both have had screen protectors and cases since day one. No dents or scratches at all. They're both in mint condition. I have several bands I'll throw in too. Some are worn a little bit some are like new and some have never been worn.

Anyway, I'm in no rush so think about it and if your interested let me know.

Which would you recommend?

Dude. I have no idea. Both are pretty much the same as far as capabilities but yet so different because of their looks. I use a lot, and I mean a lot of the the information they provide and have barely scratched the surface.

These are the best and easiest to wade through. Check them out and if you have any questions I'll answer them.

I hate getting rid of either of them, but if my new watch isn't what I'm expecting it to be Im gonna get another Garmin and I won't need 3. Lol.
