Warren Burrell, Refs, and Tim Banks

Lot of BS penalties, a lot of quick series for the offense which puts more pressure on the defense, facing a veteran QB with limited personnel, etc etc. Sucks to lose, we should’ve won. That final series was completely mishandled.

That being said if not for Banks and the rest of the staff we wouldn’t have even gone to a bowl game. I think he did a solid job this season with what he had. This was the most fun I’ve had watching Tennessee football in a long time. If you aren’t on board with this team and staff kick rocks.

No he didn’t. He never rotated a safety over to help Burell and didn’t pressure enough. When we sent 5 after the QB we got to him and the majority of the night we rushed 4.

You only have 11 guys. Do you want to send pressure or help Burrell? That was his problem. He had 2 corners who both needed help and a d line that couldn’t get pressure and LBs who couldn’t cover.

If you send 6, you can’t help anyone (5 wrs to cover=11 players) . If you send 5 you can help one of them. If you send 4 you can help both of them.

His play calls alone should’ve lead to 2 interceptions because of how he disguised the pressure (J Banks dropped 1).

The problem is no one was making a play. D Line did nothing. LBs couldn’t cover. DBs couldn’t cover. It was a mess.

That jersey pull by the Purdue defender not called was criminal!!! How could every official miss that?? It would have been a touchdown.

If not a touchdown it sets up a 30 yard field goal or less. Still, we were playing for touchdowns when we should’ve been playing short out routes to set up an easy FG for McGrath.

Agreed. Thought his handling of Corral, Pickett, Georgia’s run game, Bryce Young, and the world beater Emory Jones was exceptional.

Get off your high horse. We don’t owe a defensive coordinator anything. We’ve all been fans long before his arrival and we’ll all cheer for our Vols long after he’s gone.

Not on a high horse at all. Just saying with the limited personnel he had I thought he did alright. As far as Corral goes technically his defense had the game winning strip fumble which was reversed. I think it was a pretty good year considering most thought we would go 4-8. But I’m not a coach so what do I know?

I can agree with most of this. It all boils down to our DC needs to be gone.

It’s pretty bad when it’s pulled out like that it’s an easy call. Felt like the officials were ready for the game to be done.

When your offense does nothing for 2 quarters to help the defense it doesn't help matters. This team deserved to lose but not in the fashion they did.

You should never lose a game where you score 45 points in regulation. You sure as hell shouldn't turn around and blame that offense.
