And I don’t disagree with that at all, but the crux of most of the D’s shortcomings were technique and scheming, rather than them being gassed. When your offense does nothing for 2 quarters to help the defense it doesn't help matters. This team deserved to lose but not in the fashion they did.
The officials threw this game, not the people you mentioned.
No. This game should have been over well before OT. The D just consistently gave up big plays and displayed piss poor technique by way of tackling and angles taken.
As @Vol865 mentioned and I’ll gladly concede, the O did nothing to help this.
With that said, being gassed can play into poor technique, assignment, alignment. That's all I'm gonna say though. I don't want to defend them anymore than I have to. Pun intended. And I don’t disagree with that at all, but the crux of most of the D’s shortcomings were technique and scheming, rather than them being gassed.
To your point though, this offense isn’t conducive to an overly successful D in general, but it can’t be as pitiful as it was tonight.
Once you see how the ref's are calling the game, you can't grab them even a little bit. I'm trying to remember, but every call on him for interference was legit. Someone needs to coach him when you're beat, the only thing you can do is try to tackle and dislodge the ball....or hope they don't catch it. He seemed undersized, and not able to adjust to game conditions.Burrell interfered a couple of times - most of the interference calls on him were a load of sh#t though along with the rest of the game.
Add another 100 to the passing game for penalties. But we've given up large chunks of yards all season. The guys are playing hard but we just don't have the talent and depth to stop good teams. We've got to build a defense.Yeah, you’re right - holding the opponent’s QB to 530+ and 5 TDs is awesome. My bad, you’re right
A breath of fresh air and reason.Once you see how the ref's are calling the game, you can't grab them even a little bit. I'm trying to remember, but every call on him for interference was legit.
