War in Ukraine

So are the Balkans rightful Turkish land? They were controlled by the Ottomans for centuries.

Is Taiwan part of China? They were under Beijing’s control until 1949. May as well just lay down their guns and let the CCP roll over em.

Is Ireland part of the UK? The English controlled Ireland for almost a millennium. Far longer than the Ruskies controlled Ukraine.

Is Brazil part of Portugal? Is Cuba part of Spain? Hell, is Finland part of Russia?

No, they all have self determination and aren’t beholden to somebody else just because of historical claims. Same with Ukraine and every other post Soviet state.
Northern Ireland is still actually part of the UK

So your solut
I’m glad you know how to copy and paste from AI. But you only seem to have proved what I stated. We’ve had ceasefires and yet, the war continues
So your "solution" is DON'T have a ceasefire now, instead continue fighting.

Genius.

Also 100% opposite of Trump's position going into the talks with Putin.

Not at all. I’m not opposed to a ceasefire. I’m stating a ceasefire doesn’t mean an automatic end to the war as you proclaimed

You want a guarantee? Buy a toaster.

If Putin agrees to a ceasefire that freezes the current front lines, you actually think Zelenskyy would not agree to it?

If no, why not?

EDIT: Per @BeardedVol, Ukraine already agreed to a ceasefire, so the only obstacle to it was Putin. And he refused. But, obviously, had Putin agreed to a ceasefire, it's probably be in place right now and the war would likely be over.

Zelensky has already agreed to a ceasefire once, but Putin refused.

They’ve agreed to ceasefires before. And the war is not over. Idk how you’re failing to understand this.

Hamas and Israel have agreed to ceasefires before and the war is not over.

Agreeing to a ceasefire does not guarantee an end to a war.

You think Putin is going to use a nuke? That's absurd and you know it. A nuke threat over a land grab? C'mon.

Putin is a lowlife murdering bully but he's not suicidal.
bush implied a nuclear threat for anyone interfering in our invasion of Iraq

the real problem here is, contrary to norris's interpretation of history..it had been assumed since the end of wwII that war for land was no longer acceptable, or even feasible, in large part due to nuclear weapons. now Russia is essentially using the nuclear threat to make a very clumsy and embarrassing attempt at a land grab.

Lol, the 3-day ceasefire so he could have his parade?

According to Zelenskyy there’s a total of 25 ceasefires Putin has agreed to since 2014. But, yes. That’s one of them. Along with Easter, Christmas, and others.

Point still stands. Temporary ceasefires do not guarantee a war ends.

I'll repeat my question you've avoided:

If Putin agrees to a ceasefire that freezes the current front lines, you actually think Zelenskyy would not agree to it?

If no, why not?

He likely would, but he’s refused ceasefires before.

Either way, you’re intentionally confusing “ceasefire” and “end of the war”.

Tibet wants to leave China, should we go to war with China to free Tibet? Why is it our duty to solve issues that are not our business. Ukraine falling to Russia would do nothing to harm our national security or threaten us. I also think Ukraine is still going to be alive after all of this anyways.

Agreed. I will now be making all future decisions for you. I don’t want you to have to deal with the stupidity that is, self determination

Woodrow Wilson came up with the concept in the 1910s. You guys are zombies to it and it has lead the USA into unnecessary war after unnecessary war and arguably helped cause WW2 as well.
