Want To Know What's Really Embarrassing?

Pretty misleading since that team only avg'd 27 ppg. It was a defense led team with several future NFL stars on it.

No question Saban is a great coach. The question is whether he inherited a roster even close to as bad as the one Dooley inherited. The answer is NO.

So here we have it. Your opinion about what Dooley would have done with a much better roster than he inherited is now the proof you base your opinion on.

I don't know nor care how Dooley would have done with that team. I honestly do not care about the last two years. I care about the next 7 games. That IS his career as far as I am concerned.

Context. Really? You are going to stop pointing fingers? That would be refreshing.

The other difference between Bama and UT that no one likes to mention is the boosters and where they like to spend their money. We have the largest recruiting budget because our boosters seem to want to keep things cleaner and a bit more above board than other programs. We prefer to pay coaching buy outs (football, basketball and baseball) while others pay for recruits.

If facts mean so much go pull for another team that your facts line up with!!!! People pls get a life. I view sports as a adder to my life not my whole life. We were in a bad spot . CDD 1st year don't count, and he needs 4 full years to make it better. We changed to 3-4 and you thought it would be easy???? Lets let this thing play out for a few more games and see if we make progress. If not then fire away. But for some to burn the bridge is stupid now. Spare me the we expect better BS, our guys have busted their butts to get better and I can see that. If I was one of them and read the BS that some put on here it would piss me off. The sheep thread tops it off. Grow up and enjoy the ride back, we'll get there but you can't have it all. Yes I do feel better !!!!! Thanks and go VOLS. Most of us still love ya and BELIEVE!!!!!!!:peace2:

This is what I think about all of these redundant posts!

People need to understand it takes a while to completely rebuild a program. People talk about USCe a lot on here but fail to realize it took spurrier several several years to get them where they are today. Dooley is doing great things but it takes time And not giving up.

Gamecocks 2005-2011

2005: 7-5
06: 8-5
07: 6-6!!
08: 7-6
09: 7-6
10: 9-5
11: 11-2

That's a lot of years of mediocrity.....at least by VN standards. 07 would have been his head. Let Dooley finish the test. See what he can really do. There have been flashes and I think we will see a lot of improvement this month.

Welcome to the board. :hi:

In all honesty, I am totally shocked that SOS stuck around Columbia that long. I figured after a couple of 6 loss seasons, he would have gotten frustrated and retired.

Not to be confrontational with you, but USC Is an anomoly. I did the research because I wanted to know how long was reasonable. If you compare our program 3 years before Dooley to 3 Years at other schools before their current coaches you will find that they have had a lot more improvement percentage wise than Dooley. Check out Years 2 and 3 for Saban, Urban, Petrino, Richt, Mullen etc. You might be surprised that they took over programs in similar shape as ours and they all improved their teams quickly. Dooley is 4-14 against the SEC and 3 wins are Vandy and Ky. None of these guys struggled like that. Granted UGA and Fla were in better shape, but not Arkansas, Miss St or SC or even Bama really, and those guys won a lot more than Dooley has. Just saying. I'm a CNC guy too. Nice to talk to you.

Florida wouldn't be in the top ten if we beat them. We can actually hurt our opponents if we beat them. It is a wonderful concept.

and Bama won't win a NC if we beat them either. So obviously we can, by your logic.

Listening to the ESPN guys defending Romo's 5 picks makes me think of UT fans who support Dooley no matter what. Tonight Trent Dilfer made excuses for Romo in spite of his 5 picks. That reminds me of all the DD supporters who choose him over the University of Tennessee. Then they have the nerve to challenge realistic peoples fan hood.

His first year does count. How many times have you heard Bill O'Brien use "year zero" since he took over in Happy Valley?

Those coaches were nowhere near inheriting the mess CDD.

Yet you fail to mention any other circumstances that led to that beyond his control.

A starting roster that was on par with the Vandy's and Kentucky's his first year.

A young, promising roster his second year that featured Bray and Hunter getting hurt. Lathers getting hurt. Janzen getting kicked off. In their place we start Simms/Worley, Zach Rogers, two freshman LBs, and a freshman safety.

Three senior classes that were left for him that have been awful beyond comprehension.

And 2-3 mid to late round NFL draft picks left to him.

Think that contributed at all?

I doubt that very many see my posts on here, because I work for a living and can't be on here patrolling for the nega vols, but it is just what I say time after time. Folks, unless you were around during the General's coaching tenures you really can't talk about the glory of Tennessee football. Johnny Majors began a trip back to that type of football, but people wanted the blowout wins, so they chunked Johnny for Phil. He had a winning percentage that was great until you look at it under the microscope. Do some research on your own and see what I mean. The results will make you think about all this negativity.
