Want To Know What's Really Embarrassing?

I truly believe that some of our Fans want Dooley to get fired just so they can say "i told you so" rather than "it needed to happen". Sad.

Yet, UT did know these things when they hired Dooley. You know what stat you are not putting in there? No one else wanted the job. I don't know why people can't understand that. We took the best coach that would take the job. Tradition be damned. That is the state of UT football three years ago. Who knows if he is the right guy for the job. He's our coach now.

I have to disagree somewhat. It may be true that Dooley was the only coach who would take the job. Do you know that for a fact? How do we know who was actually offered the job? There is also the money issue. We were trying to hire a budget coach as Hamilton was shopping with 2 million dollars. Would 3 million have drawn better options? How about 4million? When your looking to hire a coach while paying him less than 95% of the other teams in your conference, expect to get a loser. Being cheap, is what has put us in this position IMO.

I don't buy that for a second, that would mean that they honestly don't care about the wins/losses, which is their entire base for argument that he should be fired.

We just had one of the highest paid coaching staffs leave for USC. Money wasn't an issue to get them here, what makes you think it was an issue after they left? There was no budget hire, there just wasn't anyone with a high profile dumb enough to take the job with the timing, current roster, etc...

A majority of those who dont think Dooley will get it done and a move needs to be made, think that this is such an ignorant statement.

Negavolnation at its finest, 300 threads of the same topics.

I do agree with this, there are way too many threads going each way on the subject. Should just have two megathreads, one being I love Dooley and the other being I fawking hate Dooley. Would make it easier

I am pretty sure Kiffin was still right at about 2 million dollars. Yes, we were paying daddy and the ogre well. Other teams are paying the assistants quality money, AS WELL as the head coach. 2 million is just not top SEC money.

So you think we would give almost 4 million to 1 HC and two assistants but wouldn't offer 4 million to a HC and lower paid assistants? Please.

Actually I couldn't be in a better mood but some of you people b!tch, whine and belly ache worse then my ex wife. Starting to make me second guess if she was really that bad.

So you're saying that we should just accept it for what it is?

"Sometimes living in a world like this, it's pretty hard not to go insane. Not pretty if you don't comply, pretty easy if you don't complain".

What's really embarrassing is the fact that I check this board all the time with the hopes of finding something interesting or different to read...

And the majority of those fans say they are big on the university and most likely respect the hell out of coach Majors. Yet, have no idea about his record in his first four seasons here. You can't fire a coach after 2 1/2 seasons, you just don't.

The timing was the biggest single factor in who was willing to come here and who was not. It was just the worst possible time to be looking for a head coach. Similar to John L Smith in Arky IMO

So you just enjoy cursing often? Got it. Hey, I let one fly sometimes, but I try to space them out.

Remember recruits read this. If you are cursing constantly, you might offend one of their mommas and cause them not to sign with UT.

People are going to make jabs on either side of this discussion, in the long run our opinions have very little impact on what happens. The thing all this does have an impact on is recruiting. For a Vol fan to post so much negativity on boards daily, we will be lucky if any big name recruits come to the Hill to play their next 4 years.

We live in a social environment where people seek info at the click of the mouse, if you are one of those that think what gets posted on a message board does not impact decisions, don't cry like babies when top recruits decide to go elsewhere. If I had a son who was being recruited by UT and he had other offers from big schools, UT would not be getting my blessing based on all the fire DD threads and posts.

Hard to do when the results are the same....every single week.

The timing was a big factor, but if the roster looked like any decent SEC roster then someone would've bit. The problem was, even Muschamp looked at the situation and laughed. Tells you a lot.

I'd hate for us to fall further behind Vandy in recruiting.

AMEN !!! Anybody that defends that kind of pathetic loser record is a M-O-R-O-N !!!

Yeah, a man that is a lawyer, coached in the NFL, coaches the university of Tennessee, played football at Virginia, has coached at LSU and La Tech, has made more money than we will ever see in our lifetime, and has a college degree. Yeah that really sounds like a pathetic loser to me.
