Whats the latest with Geraldo Orta? Didn't he redshirt last year? Is he a freshman this season? Kid was supposed to be really good in the secondary...

YEAH. I'm pretty sure he did redshirt and he been getting at lot of praise so I would say he is.

Geraldo is coming along great. I wonder how Coleman has done this spring? Seems the two starters will be Waggner and Teague, it's just nice that we have some quality guys behind them to step in when needed

I'd prefer Waggner and Gordon start...But yeah, we have some good depth at DB.

I think he meant to say Lanier and Waggner are starting with Coleman and Teague backing them up. Pretty sure GOrdon is locked in as the Nickel CB as well.

The best thing is that we finally have a little depth at all the DB positions and several of those guys have some actual playing time and experience.

I think having 1 coach for CB's and another coach for S's will be a big help since they can focus 100% on 1 position and spend more time with the guys that play that position and teach them more and correct their mistakes a bit faster.

I look for our D backfield to be better this season and not be giving up as many big plays since CSS will have them much more disciplined.

He looked pretty small in one of the practice videos, I think it was Wednesday's. Doesn't mean he can't play but he needs to be bigger to play safety, IMO.

Waggner and Lanier should be on the top of the depth chart. Coleman and Teague should be second string.

We tend to think of the spectacular plays that Gordon make during the season, such as the interception in O/T against Vandy. However; there were times that he took a risk and it didn't pay off and his team mates in the secondary had to be there to fix his mistake.
Sometimes a calculated risk will pay off and other times, it will lead to us giving up a t.d.

No risk = no reward.

Just be careful on the risks taken.

I'd love to see more INT's and a pick 6 per game would be very nice.

Now wake me up before I dream something that will get me in serious trouble and I say the wrong womans name.

Name one offensive player that Teague guarded well.

I have to agree. I feel bad for the kid too. He was a solid slot WR, and after his freshman year he gets moved to DB. He was basically a sophomore for us last year, but I just feel Teague is extremely out of place at the DB position. He's to big a play maker not to be on offense IMO.

Agree 100%. He was 6 catches for 89 yds in his first game as a vol, and did pretty well the rest of the year before being moved. He would be a solid contributor right now behind Rogers and Hunter, but....

If he has so much ability/potential at WR and we finally have some depth at DB, why wouldn't the coaches move him back to the Offensive side of the ball???

What is Byron Moore's situation? Is he going to see a lot of playing time this year? I think I read somewhere on here that he was in better shape this year and is having a much better spring.

I think they have been saying that he is in the mix for at least one of the safety positions, competing to possibly start, or at least get some reps rotating in there. I think I heard he had passed Wilks to claim a starting spot, at least for now, but that is with Brewer out. Sounds like he is seriously competing.

B.Moore is the starter next to Randolph right now. Been that way for a week now. To all the people that think Teague will have a good year you're crazy. Waggner, Lanier, Coleman, and Gordon are all better. They also have Tino Thomas too who has a lot of natural talent. Then Deion Bonner is coming in the fall. Teague should've been moved back to WR. Especially with us being short on bodies.
