At some point Danny White is going to feel the heat, for giving coach Hype that long term contract extension. Especially in the department of recruiting.

Not to mention the conflict of intrest, of their personal relationship.

Feel the heat? Of what exactly? This coach is better than any coach we’ve had since fulmer. Not than 16 years ago. The guy is matching up and even beating teams at times with more talent than on ours. Recruiting classes in the top ten. Nationally ranked number one and in the college football playoffs. One of the top defenses wth a qb and offense that didn’t exactly play ball control. There is a lot to be happy with. Of course there are areas for improvement.

Danny White should need a parka with the lack of heat he has for giving Heupel a contract extension.

CJH has been the best thing to happen to this program in 2 decades. Don’t get me wrong sometimes I’m frustrated that we aren’t recruiting top 5 but I think we can get there with time. We also have to realize what he’s done has been remarkable. If we had some better QB and WR play last year we would’ve been a national championship contender. CJH has proved this team can adapt and win on defense too. We may not be a dynasty to rival 2010’s Alabama soon but we can make a national championship runs when the roster clicks together and we have some experienced players stay.

The new isn’t wearing off. Recruiting is solid and the staff evaluates talent in the portal fairly well. Vols are fine. Nico leaving doesn’t mean the sky is falling. The only thing I will agree with is the OL needs some help, whether it’s talent or development. Everybody compares the WR room, just like QB, to the 2022 bunch and we won’t see that production for a while.

At this point Hype is better hc than Fulmer was and we finally have a great AD after C Dickey retired.

Fulmer never could built back what was what he had in place, to begin with.

Just don’t want to have another Fulmer / Randy Sanders type situation.

As far as his recruiting goes, if you look at the average player ratings, instead of only focusing on numerical rankings, Heupel is recruiting well. The reality is, that there isn't much difference from being #7 overall vs being #12. Does he need to recruit better, especially at WR? Yes .... but your post is ridiculous and somewhat ignorant. I would not trade Tennessee's class of 2025 for Florida's but your post is a pretty good indicator that you would, and that would probably just be because you only care about numerical rankings, and you ignorantly believe that a 1 or 2 position difference makes for some kind of advantage.

Honestly, I don't have confidence that this coach or staff can take that step. There are some positions that either aren't developed well enough and/or that have poor evaluators. Let's not forget that Nico was THE choice at QB for Heupel coming out of HS.

What Nico was last year was after 2 years of coaching and development. Would year 3 have been better? We'll never know. If Nico flops at UCLA, it will still make some fans(me) question Heupels eval. If he balls out, some fans (me) will question why our staff couldn't get that kind of performance out of Nico. No win situation. The next couple of seasons will be very interesting for Josh Heupel.

Nico is a good qb. at some point a kid has to work and earn it. he has all the tools.

followed recruiting back to the grid days. and it isn't good right now. last year was just good, not great.

miss on a lot of evals, take too many projects that don't pan out. tennessee should never struggle to recruit skill people, esp in this offense.

I disagree .... and just because you have followed it a long time, doesn't mean you are knowledgeable of it. It sounds like you are also one of these numerical rankings clods.

The class of 2025 was very good.

There isn't enough of a sample size with Heupel yet to determine evaluations. He was hired too late to hold the class of 2021 against him, and he has had to deal with scholarship reductions.

If you are referring to the class of 2026, you are probably hung up on Keys. That was a big loss, but there is still a long way to go. We will see what happens.

This is correct. George is a 5-star. No matter what the services say. He was dinged because he didn't attend some camp held by the recruiting monsters. They are biased, don't know **** about football, or both. He's an absolute baller who is smart that can run with the best of them. Give him some time in mop-up duty and feed him lard milkshakes for a year, and he'll be fine. As for this year, who knows? Heup will weather the storm no matter what. If we don't make a bowl game, he'd just promote Seth Luttrell to OC and get ready for '26.
