Von Pearson Update

Then STFU. No one knows what happened. Stop trying to be that guy that takes on the white knight role and defend the girl. There is no evidence to support rape, the lack of evidence supports the girl overreacted. Was Von charged with making a mistake or being in the wrong place at the wrong time? Nope it appears he was charged with rape and cleared but you want to be the guy to still piss on his reputation and say he was in the wrong.

"Sigh" I give up.

This needs to be repeated until people quit posting it, VON PEARSON WAS NOT CHARGED WITH RAPE.

I'm convinced the UT administration is taking the opportunity to send a message to the entire football team and probably the entire men's athletic department regarding the issue of sexual abuse or misconduct. This was the second of 2 undesired and embarrassing episodes in a relatively short time frame. Although Von is obvious innocent of anything serious, at the very least he was likely guilty of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. What has transpired may not be entirely fair to Von, but when something like this occurs in today's environment and so soon after the AJ and Mike Williams incident, it is expected that the next offense is going to be addressed a bit more heavy-handed, if you will.

If this was 3 days before the opening game instead of 3 days into camp, you could have probably expected a quicker resolution or ruling. However, since it isn't, having this hang out there for some time should drive home a message that was obviously not heard well enough following the AJ episode.

CBJ may be part of those sending the message or could also be on the receiving end...hard to say. But, it makes a lot of sense to me this is an opportunity to make a point or teach a lesson. I think we all know damn well this sort of thing is a major embarrassment to everyone affiliated with UT, including the members of this board. With a highly anticipated football season fast approaching, the timing for a lesson such as this couldn't be more powerful. Unfortunate, yes, but a great opportunity to drive a very important point home to a group of young men.

Anyway, this makes sense to me and might explain the slow path to where we find ourselves today.

What does this even mean?

It's so simple and that all we are saying, lol... It's not our opinion, it's the facts. People keep thinking me we are saying we know what he did when it's actually them that act like they know what happened just because he's not criminally charged. We are past that, that's not the point, it has nothing to do with criminal charges now. Is he guilty of anything civil? Or that would violate Title IX? Or something to cause her to feel unsafe? You don't know, and I'm not saying presume guilt or that it's even fair. What we have to do is wait and see just like you had to with the criminal side of the investigation. We aren't saying what he did or didn't do outside of criminal behavior... We are saying we don't know yet so let's see what they say. It's looking good today however.

WTF? He's not taking up for the girl..... He has been explaining what the university is doing in their investigation. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CRIMINAL CHARGES!
What else had he been accused of? We don't know and won't know until info comes out. Youre stuck on the criminal charges when that's not even what he's taking about. You do understand there's more to it, right? We are stating facts about the investigation, not what we want to happen, or what's fair, or presuming guilt. We are telling you what the school has to do to follow FEDERAL guidelines and rules..... Along with UT code of conduct rules

Just posted on TOS that Pearson has just registered for fall classes and has a full schedule. Looks like we're only missing a formal announcement.

Kids get kicked out of school for far less serious things than being charged with rape. The question might be why were Johnson and Williams allowed to stay rather than why has VP been denied. Rules change too. Maybe the Johnson and Williams decisions were made and then something changed causing VP to be kept away. Length of time as a student in good standing could be a factor as well. AJ Johnson had been a student for about 4 years, VP for less than one.

On Basilio today, somebody suggested that maybe UT just wants VP to go away and is willing to pay a settlement to make it happen.

That would be a bad mistake. Other schools would trash this program without legitimate explanations and I really would not blame them taking advantage of it. I can hear recruiters telling players you do not want to go to UT. See what they did to Von Pearson.
