I don't disagree with the technical aspects of your post, but in the event that the cops close the matter, UT will probably follow suit. It would be hard for the Feds to find fault with UT for deferring to a six month investigation by the police.
The feds are investigating an incident that an accuser said the university didn't handle appropriately. There's a good chance it's a completely unrelated case.
If Pearson's cleared by police, I doubt the university is able to turn up anything major. They just have to act appropriately concerning all accusations. As long as Peason is not the focus of an active police investigation, I think he's allowed back with the team.
It usually works that way. But the UTPD incident report has different information than the KPD incident report, so UT has to be thorough in pursuing all claims, especially when the university's complaint process is under Federal investigation. Given the circumstances, all parties will tend to play this conservatively.

At this point, I am starting to think we will be without Von Pearson this season. That's a HUGE loss for this team. Even with our WR depth, he is a difference in losing and winning about one of our games. As baseball fanatics would put it, he probably has a 1.0 WAR.
It's ridiculous that a complaint and accusation filed back in April has no new information or headway almost 4 months later. I'm taking that no news, at least this time, does not mean good news. If he was on his way back soon we would have some form of new information.
According to John Pennington on the "Sports Source" There are actually over 120 other universities that are being investigated as well.
Yeah the fact that the ESPN article said "University of Tennessee being investigated for sexual assault" as it's headline was terrible journalism. There are 121 universities under scrutiny in the investigation. They could have used any one of those.
They were quoting from an article in the tennessean which was slanted to say the least. There are 135 cases and 120 universities being investigated including UTC and Vandy
Yeah, well the Tennessean has never been my go to news source for this state. A better headline would have been "Multiple Tennessee Collegiate Universities Under Investigation for the Handling of Sexual Assault Cases." It seems like a bunch of Vandy grads run that rag.
What account?

Latest Update:
Big game for Vandy against Volunteer State Community College in September. With a win, Mason will get a contract extension and a new foosball table for the VU locker room.
Stakes are high..
