Just read on Twitter that as long as his academics are in order he'll be back. Was from a random source though so who knows *shrugs*

Wasn't from a random source bud....I said it and I know for a fact the allegations of the rape will be gone for Von...but the biggest issue with him right now is his grades....summer classes very likely and may not even matter at this point. We will know soon once this semester is officially closed out. 50/50 right now of being with the team for this season.

There was never a solid case against Von... but several posters close to the program have said that Butch cut ties with Von. Not sure why since other players in similar situations have returned, but generally reliable posters have said Von is gone. Haven't checked their stats, tho.

Unless he really is that dumb (may be to get himself in this situation to begin with), I would think he could take 4-6 very very easy summer classes and get all A's in them (or re-take failed classes, which I believe the average of the two grades then go into your average), then he could significantly improve his grades to become eligible, unless it's not a GPA thing.

I've heard the opposite from other "connected" posters as well.

I wasn't trying to take credit or anything. Just wanted to share where he stands. Basically he is in the kinda same situation D MO was several years ago for those who remember him. Butch has kinda out casted him due to the lack of effort in the classroom. It's all on von if he wants to be part of team 119

Well we know Pig was a witness to whatever happened, and Butch did some checking around before making his decision to suspend Von. You have to figure what he talked to Pig and what he said was factored in. Even if no rape charges are forthcoming there could something else that made Butch mad.

Or, as Volquest86 said, he'll be cleared on all charges, however, the issue that will now keep him away from the team are his poor grades.

Yeah, I'm sure Butch is pissed. But didn't he immediately suspend Von, per policy, the minute Von was named in a criminal investigation? I remember reading that witness interviews were inconclusive, so I figured Pig and Mixon gave neutral or supportive statements. If it's true that Butch is done with Von, maybe he's sending a zero tolerance message to the team... or maybe Von is on the bubble academically and Butch decided to cut bait. Guess we'll know pretty soon.

The timing is ironic...von was going to be suspended anyways due to academics....just maybe later on and then this situation happened that progressed everything. Another reason for more delays and at a stand still...waiting for the final grades ect.

Just amazing to me that a kid who's gone through what Von has, who was then given an incredible opportunity to realize (I assume) a lifelong dream of playing in the NFL and becoming a wealthy young man, would just piss it away by not handling his business in the classroom...not to mention putting himself in the position he was recently in regarding the sexual assault allegation. I just don't get it.

Hey 86....any word on Pig's grades? Is he still at risk as has been reported?

If Von was done he would be dismissed from the team. That hasn't happened yet. Leads me to believe Butch is letting it play out before he takes any further action.

Like I said earlier...von isn't done yet. It's basically 50/50 for him right now. Totally his decision weather he wants an nfl career or not. As for pig...nothing to be alarmed. Definitely nothing like last year. But he does need to stay focused being a senior and not think everything is automatic for him

Appreciate the updates (and for getting the thread back on track, lol). Given where we were with Von, I'd say 50/50 odds at this point are good. Hope he handles his business accordingly. Same for Pig. There are more important things than football...but this is a forum for Tennessee football fans, so I'm glad to know it looks like we'll have Pig's services and possibly Von's as well. Thanks again.

Hey no problem...and to clarify...butch does have a no tolerance policy with sexual/domestic assault or violence....if ur called out you are suspended no questions asked until everything is settled out either in court or with the coaches....I agree 100% with it
