Von Pearson Update

No because there is no proof of anything...

There's no proof of any CRIMINAL activity. However that doesn't mean there wasn't conduct unbecoming and that's exactly what the university is going to take a long hard look at. People get suspended from school and off of sports teams all the time for doing things that aren't illegal in the eyes of the law. I don't know why so many here are having such a hard time grasping this.

I think you answered your own question.

Lol

Yea it's either he is really worried this isn't ending well or he is calling for a greater audience that will further his career

I hope it's a career move but could be either really

That's essentially what I have been stating for months. But, it falls on death ears to many on this board.

If it were your daughter, would you still think it was "bull s@it?"

Oh dear lord. If I hear this one more time.....good grief. Most everyone has parents that love them and care for them, and somewhere out there Daddy's little girl is dong something very unsavory.......dirty sex, lying, drugs, stealing, getting drunk off their ass, whatever. This girl is a liar. She said she was raped and the evidence shows that she LIED. Period.

Hey good thing these "rules" were not in place when the GOAT Peyton Manning tea bagged that training staff woman.

I hear ya.

Retroactive action against Peyton for forever tarnishing the great state of Tennessee.

I just read the 29 codes of conduct and he violated none of them in this instance. The university's case goes out the window with a rape or physical abuse charge. Someone on a computer should post them.

Don Coffey is very well known. He is a well respected attorney with over 40 yrs experience and he practices in tim priest and bob pryor's firm.

If this was Joe College on an academic scholarship and he was the subject of an investigation of a serious crime and in the end there was not enough evidence to proceed and the alleged incident occurred off campus what would have happened to him?

Yeah you're right. Von was completely framed and totally innocent of ANY wrong doing here, legal or illegal. He was pure as the driven snow and wasn't a contributor whatsoever of any kind of incident that prompted this woman to report him.

Look, I'll support whatever the university decides. If they say he deserves a second chance then great! Enroll him and stick him out on the football field. If they say he behaved in a manner that is irreprehensible and needs to go, I'll support that too. I'm just tired of seeing all the "poor poor Von" posts when no one has a clue as to what really happened. Everyone is so damn ready to see him on the field, it's like they don't even stop to consider what he may have actually done and just because it wasn't found to be criminal doesn't mean it wasn't worthy of suspension.

If my daughter made up some **** about someone that was baseless and had no merit to it at all, and it was causing great damage to the reputation of someone else, you're damn right I would want him back on the field. Not everybody is as naive and stupid as some.

I don't think it's deaf ears. I think it's being objective. Let's say someone accused you of cheating on an exam, but you know you didn't. However, even though the professor can't prove you cheated, just become "Susie" said you did- you are expelled for breaking school policy. VP has been cleared of breaking any laws. This suspension now seems totally based off of a "he said/she said" scenario. What entitles one to be more believable than the other ?

A "second chance" implies he did something wrong and there is no PROOF that he did. See that's what you seem to miss...there is no PROOF!!! Ever think maybe SHE got pissed about something, had to much to drink and MADE CRAP UP?????????????? There is such a low burden of proof to FILE CHARGES and there wasn't enough that here. GET OVER YOURSELF. This has been a crap case for too long and we need to move the heck on.

My daughters would accept responsibility for their contributions to this mess. If raped, we wouldn't be having this contribution. Because of the DA's dismissal it seems to be 50/50 and piss poor judgement on both parts. Evidently they do not want any part of this Drama.

Alcohol involved???? Underage drinking and distorted facts? Rape Kit results? Kids.???

I dunno, if you look at the guys that generally represent high profile athletes, I mean like AJ or Williams or any others one can think of, these lawyers already have careers or they wouldn't be called in the first place, you know.

As you know, I follow these types of UT things all the time. This reminds me of Debby Jennings. They knew they handled it poorly, but they wouldn't admit it and they end up dragging it out in hopes that everyone would just move on, in that situation they could control the PR spin, but because they can't talk about students, they can't control it this time.

I don't know what it is over there, kind of an arrogance that they are always right and they aren't going to be pushed around.

We'll see, but like I said, Von has options, it's not like...well, I'll leave it at that and with this, One Tennessee sounds like BS about right now if I'm Von Pearson.

Oh good lord, I don't know if he did anything wrong or not. Let's not split hairs on semantics here. All the things you're supposing very well could have happened just like you said verbatim. However something entirely different could have happened too. We don't know and probably will never know. We don't have access to the case file. However I'm sure the university does and I'm sure they'll base their decision on whatever that says.

All the "cloak and dagger" everybody's out to get poor Von conspiracy theories are getting ridiculous.

How does he have options??

He couldn't play this year anywhere else at least D1 regardless

I'm not sure about that. But certainly he could immediately go D2 and get some film.

The reason that I'm not sure is because this situation, the sum total of it, has been so poorly handled that he might be able to apply for a waiver from the NCAA, certainly because of the time line here it might be difficult, but if I'm his family I might try looking into it, you know, if UT can't get it together and do the right thing.

I always respect your thinking here but IMO going D2 isn't really having options

Also there is 0% he would get a waiver IMO
