If we can get gruden.. im all for it

but if we have to hire someone who is not a homerun, I would rather give dooley another year. Dont want to fire him and be in the same spot again next year.. with new systems etc..

Hyams was saying that one of the NFL scouts that he talked to said that up to 10 players on this team could be drafted, included all 5 offensive linemen.

I seriously doubt that, but this team isn't as bad as it's shown, at least not in terms of raw talent. This team definitely shouldn't have collapsed against Florida . . . or any other team we've lost to for that matter.

TBH, I just don't think the players care anymore. It's a lot like last year, where they've just become so apathetic that they'd rather just move on. That's a reflection of the coach more than anything else.

NFL draft analyst Mike DeTillier said all 5 O-linemen should get drafted. Bray, Hunter, Rivera and Patterson will be drafted. That's 9 right there. So, 10 isn't a stretch.

I thought the team cared today or they wouldn't have been at the 19 yard line with a chance to tie or win it. We'll see after today's loss and anything that happens to Dooley whether their head will be in the games going forward.

MSU beat us and will have 10+ wins. They have no more talent across the board then us yet we will max out at 7 wins and 6 is more likely.

But its MSU,....they are not Natl. recognized as one of the finest Universities that sponsor football? How many NC do they have vs. UT? (not matter how long ago) How many NFL players has UT developed vs. MSU? How big is Neyland vs. their cow pen? MSU is not UT. But they are getting kutos in mags. and tv (til today). Mullen didn't take over after a Kiffin either. Just sayin' that they are doing well, bowl ready and aren't Natl' recognized.
DD might need another yr. or two (against what I have said in the past) and he might get this rolling. Like I have said, Dabo faced a lot of similar issues and has done well in his cute little conf.; DD might be able to do the same in the SEC. Not likely, but it is possible.

and I have said it a couple of times on here now...if Bray Hunter and Patterson goes...then no matter how UT finishes this year...it's a bust...has anybody even glanced at the the games next year?...dayum!!! and UT goes into this with NO PROVEN OFFENSE. and people think that Dooley can do it with pretty much the same team that Kiffin left for USC for? ...in simple terms, Kiffin said that his next year UT team was going to be weak..it was going to be an ugly year....so he chickened out and ran...and next year, the offense is gone...GONE!!! it will really be ugly if Dooley is still here to guide what they have left.

7-5(or 6-6) and a bowl invite? well hell yeah...THE VOLS ARE BACK

No,...but better than the last couple of years? Its called "growth". Its how you "grow" a program. Like in Clemson. Dabo made smart hires and got it done. Now he is looking pretty good. That can happen at UT. I don't like DD, but willing to see him work out his process. Cause getting him out will only add 4+ yrs. of crap football in Knoxville.

A good hire won't result in this....not even close if it's the right coach.

I hear ya,..but I don't think our "back-ups" are the same walk-ons as the last couple of years. WE ARE GETTING BETTER,..and there is a system. I can't believe it, but DD merged his POS new coaching hires into a good group that has transitioned this team into a competive postion vs. the rest of the East. We are getting close to having quality behind quality.

but they are the same walk ons.....look...Dooley has laid a great groundwork...he got rid of the trash and got some good players....BUT he can't coach them up....nor can his staff...now is the time to get a guy in there that can take these guys...get in their face and TELL them how to win.
It has been done many times before with other teams.

Seriously, 2 more wins and a Bowl? Isn't that improvement worthy of keeping him ono-board? A new hire only sets us back another 2-4 yrs. (plus) before we are a yearly Top 10 team. Couldn't DD be the next Dabo?

UTand UNC says it will be announced no later than Monday in the thread below bro....

As opposed to the 3 crap years that we've aleady endured? What are we risking here by getting rid of Dooley? More mediocrity at best? More 0-5 records to start the SEC season? Ofer October yet again? Not beating a ranked team?

No thanks. I'm willing to see who else can try and lead this team beyond 6-7 or 5-7 type seasons.

Tennessee fans nor the team should NOT be wondering this late in the year if they are going to make it to a bowl.
It's that simple.

Lol. No.

Dools is gone.

If he isn't gone soon... well, did anyone see the pics of the Auburn stadium today? Before halftime the entire section near the Auburn band was almost empty... and if we have an ugly loss like that it could take much longer to rebuild than it would to begin now.

I don't like it any more than any other VOL fan, but there it is. ><> GO VOLS ><>

This thread made me laugh. It is like people just write stuff because they have nothing better to do. Dude, we need the economy to pick up so people can get off the computer and back to work!!

I don't want to be compared to Da'Rick but screw a bowl game at this point. I would probably rather have a new coach next season than a crappy MCB win.

(1) I don't think that we should fire Charlie Weis because it will set our program back a couple of years.
Well, Notre Dame did fire Charlie and hired Brian Kelly.
What a step forward, not backwards.

(2) We should not fire Tubberville at Auburn. Let's keep him because firing him would set our program back a couple of seasons. Well, Auburn fired Tubberville and hired Chizik. At least they got a National Championship, S.E.C. Championship and a Heisman Trophy from it.

(3) We should not fire Zook at Florida. It will set our program back a couple of seasons. Well, they did fire Zook and hired Urban Crier. Now, they have two more national championships and another Heisman.

(4) We should not fire Shula. Afterall, he was given a bad deal. We have a bad roster and are on probation.
We should give him a couple of more seasons. Well, they fired Shula and now they have two more national championships and a Heisman trophy.

I see a pattern here, does anyone else???

Dabo Swinney's record:

1st year: 9-5 (6-2) Division title
2nd year 6-7 (4-4)
3rd year 10-4 (6-2) Conference title
4th year 7-1

Dooley has started 0-5 in the SEC every year.

Comparing the loser we have to Dabo is stupid beyond belief.
