Count your lucky stars we lost in 01. Miami would have destroyed us.
No they wouldn't of, That Miami team was great but we matched up with them well...They may have won but it would've been a lot closer than Nebraska played them...We played Miami the next season and We still gave them a good game but due to all the injuries we just didn't have the depth to hang with them...UT was a wreck with injuries that year....Beat em in 2003 tho.

Miami took their foot off the gas against Nebraska. That 2002 Miami squad wasn’t the 2001 team. Let’s look at common opponents. We beat unranked Syracuse 33-9. Miami beat a then ranked #14 Syracuse 59-0. We struggled with unranked Arky, unranked Bama, unranked UGA, unranked ND and unranked UK.

Meanwhile Miami struggles with unranked BC and #14 VT in the ACC title game. You say we gave Miami a good game in 2002? So losing 26-3 is a good game? Yeah ok 😂😂😂. We couldn’t even win our own conference but we were gonna play one of the greatest college football teams of all time close. Keep on dreaming.

Did you read the whole post there genius or did you skip a few spots?...I said we were dealing with a lot of injuries that year and had no depth...Understand and learn the game before posting next time...Might help you keep up with the conversation seeing as you are the ONLY one here who thinks Miami would've killed us in the title game...Man oh man 😂

LSU scares me. Ed was crazy but a great recruiter so talent is there and now they have a coach who knows how to score points.
Yes, but they had a ton of folks either finish eligibility, declare for draft, or go portal. Now, they did bring in new faces, but we'll see how fast that meshes into good chemistry.

Kind of, i think a lot of their talent left in the last couple years between the pros and the transfer portal. When I watched then play last year, I never saw an Uber talented team. They were still decently talented, but nothing in comparison to their NC team a few years ago. Night and day.

Our 2001 team could beat anyone when we were on.

In what universe did we give Miami a good game in 2002? They beat us 26-3 and really didn't try.

Vegas has us an early 7 pt favorite.

SP+ has us 9th. LSU is in the 40s.

We were better than LSU last year...

They have a Y1 coach...

A lot can change between now and then, but in no way is this an upset 🤣😂

7 win defense
So...considerably worse than last year's nationally average defense?

I mean it's possible. But this team last year went 8-5 (Purdue was a win and no one can conbince me otherwise 😁) and just 2 horrific calls away from 10 wins.

Maybe in a few years. They stunk last year and lost what little they had going into Y1. Kelly is like his protege Butch, a program developer, but he won't do much special in Y1. Not worried.

We easily could've had 14-21 more points against Purdue but the defense may as well not have been on the field because it was that bad.

We learned from the Purdue game that without Taylor, we aren't stopping any decent passing teams unless someone new steps up. If Taylor is in that game, we win by two scores at least. Shame on him for sitting out. I understand his financial motives, but the real great college players like Peyton or even someone like joe burrow for example would have never sat out like that. Imagine Eric Berry sitting out on his team like that.

It's the smart thing to do for your career ofcourse, but legendary competitors just don't do that imo.

It's a new era where every decision is about $ for most of these guys. Anything past high school is pay for play and even in high school they are positioning themselves. I wonder if "fans" will eventually get tired of it because we're in essence recruiting mercenaries. Many UK fans are tired of it in basketball. At what point will not getting to know players because they are here today but gone tomorrow ruin the game. I'm not sure. Btw, Purdue had players sitting out as well.

College football has been this way for a long time man. It's just legal now. Some programs and coaches like Saban were just much better at it than others.

The portal to me is just as big as the NIL. I think overall programs like Tennessee and Texas A&M for example will benefit greatly from the nil as we have DEEP booster pockets.

My dream is to become a MEGA millionaire so i can help Tennessee buy program changing players. No joke.
