Bryce Thompson was back out at practice today. Working near the front of the group in CB drills.
TE Dom Wood-Anderson was also back at practice today.

The biggest news of the day was the return of Bryce Thompson. The sophomore was back in a No. 20 jersey and looked smooth, but notably he was taking reps toward the back of the line.
Senior tight end Dominick Wood-Anderson was back at practice after a foot inflection caused him to miss Tuesday’s workout.
For the second-straight day, the offensive line worked on a short-yardage/leverage drill with the dummies on the ground. Wanya Morris showed some improvement in the drill, while Marcus Tatum was forced to redo a rep twice after barely moving the blocking pad.
Elsewhere, Tracy Rocker was all over Savion Williams in a leverage drill. Twice the junior college transfer hit the chute on his way out, drawing some verbal frustrations from Rocker. Greg Emerson and Kingston Harris did draw some praise, though.
Jeremy Banks joined Henry To’oto’o taking the first reps. Will Ignont and JJ Peterson worked with the 2s and Shanon Reid was with the 3s. Daniel Bituli was dressed but mostly shadowed the drills, as the senior is still clearly limited with his knee injury. Bituli spent the early part of practice on the stationary bike.
Aaron Beasley was back at safety today. The freshman has now already spent time at three different positions this season — safety, inside linebacker and tailback.

Tennessee may have to wait another week to get senior linebacker Daniel Bituli back from his knee injury. The veteran started the open-viewing portion of practice riding the stationary bike before jogging over to join the rest of the inside linebacker drills. He mostly watched the walk-through-like run-fit work before getting a couple of reps as part of the third combination alongside Shanon Reid.
Trey Smith appeared to stay with the rest of the offensive line when the Vols broke into their team periods. It's been common the past couple of weeks to see him head over to work out on the side with the strength staff. So it's notable he didn't appear to do that on Wednesday.
On the backup quarterback front, it looked like it was J.T. Shrout who was second in line behind Jarrett Guarantano during mesh-point drills with the running backs. It was Brian Maurer on Tuesday. So Tennessee might still be letting those two rotate with the twos and sort out their battle for the backup job.

Pruitt didn’t say much in general when working with the DBs, but he was much more vocal with the Vols’ defensive line. As the group moved through bag drills, Pruitt yelled “Get lower!” at almost every player. The second-year head coach did seem encouraged by Matthew Butler in drills, however.
Quarterbacks and receivers went back-and-forth on routes versus air, with Jauan Jennings leading the receiving corps and Jarrett Guarantano still under control behind center. Guarantano, Maurer, and Shrout each worked on bootleg passes as well, rolling out to the right from shotgun before firing to running backs.

Well this says a lot ... Banks has already worked his way to 1st team at ILB; albeit he'll fall back to 2nd team when Bituli returns.

I never would have guessed when JJ Peterson took almost 5 years to get out of high school and showed up 30 pounds overweight that he would be such a bust.
I won't label him a bust till the end of his time here, he wasn't ready when he got here which was disappointing but it happens, I'm hoping he'll get there because he has the talent I think most of his is mental and will power.

That blocking pad must have been a five star coming out of HS.

Come on Beasley be that special utility guy we know you can be...

Is it to early to say no more busted coverage?

Bituli, Ignont, Toto, and Reid need to take over the LBs spots

My goodness we need bodies up front.

The O line worked on short yardage leverage with Marcus Tatum having to replete the drill because he didn’t move the sled
Woe is the Oline’s nickname
