Vols Practice Thread #4

Receivers coach not getting it done. He needs to get his ass in gear. Receivers are dropping way too many passes. You drop in practice, you drop in games.
You practice like you play. Too many catchable balls being dropped is not good..........................

Listen twiddle dee and twiddle dumb..Coach Johnson is the truth! Relax

I’m not sure .5 of a second makes the difference in catching or dropping. And most of these kids were catching from those same level QB’s at their respective high schools, so in theory there really shouldn’t be a difference.
I think the biggest difference is that at the next level everything just happens faster. Guys run faster, get out of breaks faster, timing is sharper, big armed QBs are zipping the ball in faster, you may even be getting your reps in faster.

I want a Vol. I want one now. After seeing players at practice T-posing, I thought they looked better than my animation avatars. So maybe tonight when players are asleep in the dorm, I'll sneak in and steal a Vol. Darn good T-posers, uh-huh. Thanks, Fingers for your typically quality videos.

And I really don’t understand drops at the college level. When I was in high school, I caught everything. It was partially thanks to basketball I believe, which I think requires more concentration dribbling, passing, catching, etc with sweaty hands. But I transitioned to catching the football very quickly, in my opinion. Probably had some of the better hands on the team. All that being said, I don’t understand how a kid on scholarship to a major D1 program drops passes...
You should show up to practice and show them...

The players still have that Butch Stench on them and haven't shook off in 19 practices under CJP. They're learning a new way to practice and right now it's all mental. They haven't all made the mental leap to were CJP wants them to be.

Regarding Lyle Allen, please just:

Seriously??? We’ve only had 4 practices and your ready to crucify the coach/players. Give them some time, D.Johnson is. Great coach and he will get that unit up to par. Your gonna see drops in camp when theirs 100+ throws everyday.

Could be lots of reasons honestly. D1 QBs have much stronger arms on shorter to intermediate routes compared to high school kids and players have less time to react. Also I would imagine these practices are a lot more rigorous than a high school practice as well. I never played past middle school but I would imagine it's much harder than it looks once them arms and legs get heavy after you've ran about 50 routes with little rest in between. With all that being said, there is still no excuse for the amount of drops that have been reported. That position should be a strength for us so hopefully we can get that figured out in a hurry. I don't imagine West Virginia will have many balls hitting the ground on September 1st and for us to compete, we can't have drops either.

Spoken like a true Narcissist!! I assume during your all state tenure in high school that you never dropped a pass. GTFO with trying to bad mouth our wide receivers, The guys on scholarship are not robots man, their human beings. And last I checked humans aren’t perfect. Therefore, your gonna have drops from receivers or anyone trying to catch a pass for that matter. The fact that you would come on here and brag and lie like you can catch any pass is ridiculous. Not to mention, no one cares what you did in high school!

Hell, how many catches was made before one was dropped.. What if the WR was averaging 98% catches and we see the drops from the very limited practice videos... If I was the coach.. I would have a segment of all kinds of **** ups released by the media for everyone to see so our opponents would think we was crap.. 😂 I would be like... JJ! Wtf! Drop that ball.. They be filming!! 😁

Maybe I should. Name me one great WR in the last 10 years at Tennessee not named Cordarrelle Patterson..

I’ll wait...
Honestly I don't think we've had a great wr in the last 10 years, had some that were good but I wouldn't even say Patterson was a great wr, but he was great on returns and reverses

Which D1 program did you play for? Have you been considered for the GOAT title yet? Drops happen and most are happening with receivers that had Vaseline hands last year. Give a little time for the new coaches to get the players heads on straight.

What is this? lol
Don't worry the authorities have been notified.

In other news that 5'7 137 pound Ja'Marcus Peterson has gone missing.

Authorities are also investigating an incident caught on security camera last night at 11pm. Video footage of the incident is blurry but seems to depict an odd looking fellow emerging from a knoxville dorm, wearing only a "butch please" shirt, thigh high stockings and a coonskin cap carrying a burlap sack. The sack appeared to be resisting.

Several witnesses have stated the sack kept repeating the phrase, "Man, damn, I ain't JJ. You got the wrong dude, what the hell is a T stance anydamnway".

No word yet on if the two events are related.
