It was a good time today. As I posted in another thread, the QB’s looked good. I was surprised how big Chryst was in person... he’s a big boy! We are going to be good at QB...3 maybe even 4 deep. Our receivers, especially the first team, were fast, real fast. Despite the heat, it was good to see this team and the disciplined, well-managed practice...good things are on the horizon! GBO!

An actual competent coaching staff after our two worst in the history of the program, it’s justified this year.
All I’m saying is that people were saying the exact same things to the videos of practice preseason last year. You can’t tell ish on these films. It translates into exactly no predictive value of the season.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love it for JG.

But it's adsurd to act like the competition is over for Chryst because a former highly touted recruit has a better arm in shorts on 7 on 7.

Chryst wasn't brought in to wow the audience in 7 on 7 and WR drills. He was brought in as a serviceable QB to run the dang offense. He was brought in to be Pruitts Justin Worley. Hope we can do better and JG steps up, but to act like it's a wrap in basketball shorts is ridiculous.

These practice threads always crack me up. Exactly the same things were being said last year.

Everybody looks good in practice, spring, fall, doesn't matter.

It's that first game where you see whether we have a team that just practices well, or one that also shows up on game day as well.

2 things

1) These media guys are just trying to sell the product: Tennessee Football.
I mean they're not going talk about how crappy the team is before the season starts...

2) They're not coaches. They never really learn...what they cover and observe and write about.
So all they can do IS say the same stuff each year.

My question to you is: At what point do just enjoy Tennessee Football and let everything be?

Of course not. It just gives us an early peek at some guys who may step up this year. Sure was fun seeing Taylor out there doing work today.

Freak, none of the videos in the OP loaded for me on my phone
Post your phone details in the suggestion thread. They work for me in both iOS and Android.

For those of you who don’t want to open and watch, here’s the cliff notes version....JG looks to be the guy early, Chryst looks like what most people thought he was when he was brought in...a safety valve. J.T. Shrout looks like one of the better QBs on the roster, McBride appears to be the 4th guy.
Well that sucks.
For JG to be truly pushed to excellence, we needed his competition to be really good. If Chryst is a mediocre "safety valve" then JG pulling ahead doesn't tell us anything.
We need Chryst to look "pretty darn good" and JG to look even better than him.

It's only the third practice and we aren't even in full pads yet, but things seem different with this staff so far, imo. Will that translate to SEC play? Who knows.

But like Bigdaddy alluded to, we've seen positive things in spring before that didn't show in games. For now, I'm choosing to believe that we will see a more physical, more fundamental team that plays true Tennessee football this year. I'm an admitted orange-glasses-wearing homer, though. lol.

Well, I agree with ya...but remember that last year's staff didn't establish a bar much higher than 2 feet above the ground....

Correct everything changes when your bell could possibly get rung and that goes for all our QBs.
