Vols Practice Thread #1

I’m just glad there is no screaming over a microphone. 😂

When I first opened the thread and saw the videos and clicked on one, my palm got slightly sweaty for a min and I had a flash back and heard: “GO UP AND HIGH POINT THE FOOTBALL!” Echo off a building.😅

I think the cutie blonde young lady was a great pickup for our team 😃 Serious note, these boys are definitely big and move fast from what I can tell.

I may have missed it, but this is substantial:

“Will Friend, who can be quite demonstrative in his own right, was playing the good cop Friday, as offensive coordinator Jim Chaney went scorched-earth on several offensive lineman for a lack of effort and power on certain reps.”

Chaney has a lot of OL experience. That is the only position group he coached in the pros I believe. I still think his improvements to former QBs were on the OL side too. Would have to look at OL stats in previous years before he took the helm at each position. Regardless, good to see Chaney getting after these guys.

Coached OL one season...TE’s the next.

Elijah Simmons, a true freshman. Made the "Get Off The Bus First Team, displays power, displays quick feet, is a DL. Ya'll get ready I think this kid may have a Barnett like freshman campaign.

I agree. I would like to see him drop about 15 lbs around the mid section to be even a little faster!!! =)

Since Fall camp has opened let me say FOR THE RECORD that I pray Mullen goes 0-12 and proves me to be a lying jackwad for thinking he’s a good coach and that we exceed expectations this year and start our climb back to being an elite football program. GO BIG AAARRRAANGE!!!!!!

Me too! But, I still say UT would have been fortunate to land Mullen as long as he got a staff full of high end recruiters and a great DC! I hope I am wrong too. Right now, I do believe in Pruitt and really do believe we have a top 5 coaching staff overall at a minimum. I never believed the used car salesman when he said UT had one!!! Pruitt is going to get it done. I have a feeling we are going to hope and pray we can hold onto to him for about 25 years!!!

Yo! about time we start looking like a SEC football team. Fitz and the players have done a good job at getting bigger and stronger.

I know I just watched a 3 minute video of players without pads but some things I noticed:

-To'oto'o is pretty nimble and has good size for a FR LB. If he learns quickly, he might get some solid playing time... especially if no one steps up across from Bituli.

-Wright looked a little out of shape but it's the start of fall camp so he has time to get in condition. Has great size

-#74 and #72 look huge and like they could be some maulers.

Let's hope our OL takes a huge leap and we could have a surprisingly scary offense. But if they still struggle, I'd like to see JC dude quick 3 step drop backs and some screens to keep the defense from blitzing us constantly...although they only had to rush 3-5 guys to disrupt the play.

What, concerns with the OL on day 1? Lack of effort and power you say? No, not possible.

2019 is going to be the first year a UT team overachieved in the last 15 years.

This would be the best thing that could possibly happen to second year head coach Pruitt and Co

Would definitely help recruiting and build confidence in the program

Don’t do it dude....don’t make those proclamations before you’ve even seen him play in pads. Remember what Pruitt said just today.....per 247

“Pruitt: We're out there with no pads on, and there will be some guys who look great today who won't be good football players. Some guys who don't look as good today will be good football players.”

Is Pruitt thinking hell we’re only half way there, 2 more recruiting cycles maybe 3?
