Vols Practice thread #1

That's fair. Im not a fan of chryst. His numbers are skewed (play action to te). He was in a run heavy offense playing against mediocre defenses. I feel any relative competent qb would put up his numbers.

That's more than likely what we will try to accomplish on offense. Pound the rock to open up PA

I could easily be wrong, but I suspect WVU defensively will challenge our QBs to throw the ball most of the game. Safeties will be up most of the time. Their D will be all about "your QBs are so shaky, we don't think they can beat us" with lots of almost 4-4 looks. If we play in to that and cannot make them pay by either successfully running into that strength or going over the top and hitting a few long balls it will be a long day for those wearing orange. Dinking and dunking short throws plays right into their hands and our QBs are going to have to resist that, let JJ and Callaway fight one on one for that long ball every now and then, make them pay.

I think we roll WVU. I really do. They have a good QB and good WR's...and that's about it. Sounds like our 2012 Derek Dooley team if you ask me.

They are going to have a hard time covering Wood-Anderson in the WVU game. That will open up the offense for us.

First practice starts at 2:50 pm today. I'll update this thread.

It seems to me from watching the videos that the receivers were running much crisper routes than we've seen in recent years

Fair point, I think what I meant in my mind was that while still quite good, I imagine he would have been able to rival the likes of GA's or Bama's RB's given our OL had been given proper coaching.
No doubt about that, agree at least 100%. The way Jones handled AK and Hurd was coaching malpractice.

To the surprise, yea, the shock of many, it will be our running game that royally messes up WVA. And then when they know we can run, the QBs begin hitting the mad dog (JJ), route running reliable (Callaway), the half-hidden gem (B. Johnson), and the tropical tree (Palmer). And then, and then, Chandler, Jordan, that British boy (London), and Wells Fargo (Banks) take turns getting it over the middle and down the sidelines, breaking tackles and just piling up yardage and TDs. This UT team, at least in this game, will prove to be deceptively evil. WVA will have their moments, mostly in from Qtrs 1 - 3 before it gets ugly when the defense finally grasps and start playing Pruitt Bam Ball. And how do I know all this? I have a Glimpser device that allows me to take short hops into the future up to a maximum 1.5 months. So I know things, some of which I shouldn't reveal. I obtained it by accident. The people looking for both it and me haven't found me yet. VN beware!

The operative question is will our offense know where he is. For instance, Butch's offense never had any idea where his weapons were

The kid is 6'5 / 6'6 at 260lbs he isn't easy to miss. They will have designed pass plays to him. (He moves like a WR)

I just finished watching Last Chance U. I cannot wait to see what Emmit Gooden does for us this year!!

Good chance hell set the records for 'yardage lost due to unsportsmanlike conduct penalties called against a player' in a single game and season.

I know this is in jest but Pruitt would never allow that lol.

Have you watched him in Last Chance U? He'll spend considerable time on the bench for his antics, but I doubt he will stop. He openly states that he paterns himself after Ndamukong Suh.

I did watch the whole terrible series. Also, he won't make those stupid penalties if he wants to play for this coach.

People also have to realize that the filmmakers make a point to emphasize and focus on that stuff or they wouldn't have a show. Like a bass fishing show for example. Who would watch a show called LAST CHANCE U if everyone was well behaved all the time. Anyone who thinks Pruitt hasn't already spoken to him about exactly that probably watches too much television.
