Oh okay. That's not what I got out of it. What I got is that going to football games is a family event and that you should consider yourself lucky that you get to go to the games, regardless of the outcome. That's what I got out of it.

If that's the case, then I disagree even more. Going to the games is a great experience, win or lose, but I don't see how being critical of one guy standing on the sidelines is somehow being disloyal to the T on the side of the helmets. The experience of Tennessee football is a lot bigger than one guy.

Maybe I'm just too surly to be looking at message boards tonight.

Amen. Words of wisdom from the barbarian.

Make sure that when you go to the games, you don't cheer too loudly or stand up too much. That bothers and annoys the old gray hairs and it takes away from the "family experience".

I'm no imposter and I'm not troll. But I have up until recently spent a few years out of state. And let me tell you, fans from outside of Tennessee gave me a totally different perspective about what UT is versus the consenus opinion I see here. I had always wondered why there wasn't more fire coming from the Vol fansbase until I came back to Knoxville... wow. And folks, this perception about accepting mediocrity is not just me talking.

It is one thing to be positive and wanting to support your team, but it is a totally different thing to be blinded by orange collored glasses and just blindly supporting the orange and white without looking at the direction the program is headed.

Comparing 05 to 06, it doesn't take a math major to figure out it's heading in the right direction.

it does piss me off when i am asked to sit down when the place is going nuts on a 3rd down

I hear about that all the time and I'm sure it has happened, but I've been going to games for 20+ years and I have never seen anything like that happen.

I've been asked to sit down a couple of times. Not to quit making noise, mind you, but just to sit down on a 3rd down or something because the people behind me aren't standing.

Neyland can be as loud as anyplace when it gets going, but considering how many people are there, it doesn't happen nearly often enough.

I think it was actually better last year from a noise standpoint than it has been in the past 3 or 4.

That's relative. If we had gone 6-6 or 7-5, that would have been an improvement, also.

But 9-4 with an embarrasing loss to Penn St, and snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory against Florida and LSU at home doesn't feel like we're much closer to moving in the right direction. Also needed late game heroics on the last drive against USC and a late score against Ky to get those wins. Not to mention Air Force. 9-4 could have easily been 7-6.
