Vols have the most talented team in the east, per data

Some of you still don't seem to understand that we lost Barnett and Dobbs. We will struggle at times. 8-4 would be a good season THIS year.

Personally I have us at 7-5.

You might be right...I'm banking on a vastly improved o-line allowing a better passer to play QB. And a d-line not decimated by injury that's able to sustain pressure on the opposing QB by more than just one player.

Put me in the 9-3 minimum camp.

For the entire class rankings per year, not just the 4 and 5 star.

14' UT - 5
UGA - 7
UF - 8

15' UT - 5
UGA - 6
UF - 23

16' UT - 15
UGA - 9
UF - 14

17' UT - 15
UGA - 3
UF - 9

JR and SR classes, the edge goes to UT slightly over UGA with UFs Jr class looking Dooleyish.

According to Daj, attrition doesn't matter so UT should be good this season.

While UGA has the upper hand over the entire cycle, UT has it in experience talent.

It's interesting #s considering the 8 win bar by many.

And set us back 5 years...outstanding idea.

Back to...?

Interesting number considering where many think he has advance it to.

That's assuming the next guy is no better, which is pure speculation.

In Jones we trust!

Pure speculation he would be better also. Especially with what is out there that this university would pay for.

As far as back to do you not remember the gutter we were in?

Not what I meant by class. The article assumes a backup 5* freshman is worth more right now than a 3rd or 4th year 4* starter. It's quick data to fill a blog post and little more

Looking at the overall numbers it would appear the 3rd and 4th year guys should favor UT. UGA is set up pretty well in 2 years.

I'm not sure why anyone would not remember given how frequently it pops up here.

Amnesia pre 08' is sad however.

And the 5 year guarantee is just as much speculation as anything else posted here.

I believe the core of our talent has shifted from skill to beef up front. Can't wait to see how this all shuffles out.

Experience can be a big thing in college football. A player gains valuable experience for every year he plays and becomes a better player because of it. Players also mature physically while they are in college and there is a big difference between a raw 17 or 18-year old true freshman and a mature and physically stronger 22-year old senior. Some teams that send their players away on missions, like BYU, routinely have Seniors up to 25 years old. There is also a coaching adage that for every freshman starter you have, you lose one game. With that in mind, we compiled the following chart. It lists the total amount of senior starters on the team as well as seniors in the two deep. It also shows all of the juniors, sophomores and freshmen starters and the total amount in the two deep.

To formulate a point system, I awarded 3 points for every senior starter (2.5 for every additional senior in the two deep) 2 points for every junior starter (1.5 for every additional junior in the two deep) 1 point for a sophomore starter (0.5 for every additional soph in the two deep) then subtracted 1 point for every frosh starter and .5 for every frosh in the two deep. The total points column uses that formula to figure out the points awarded to a team. The number before the team is where they came up in my overall ranking of all the teams in the NCAA. This list was compiled during magazine season and there have been some changes to the two deep since it went to press, which may not be accounted for. This chart will give you an idea of the most experienced and least experienced teams in the NCAA this year.

All....... Day....... Long.........

Who was the last Tn coach you consider a great game day coach? Certainly wasn't Fulmer. I don't recall him making many major in game changes. However, I have not seen every play of every game for Tn so I will defer to anyone who has. I thought Majors made a few like the Norte Dame comeback but he had trouble with Bama, so there's that.
I just don't recall one. Hopefully Jones has learned how to close out a game. We will see.

Per RTI.

http://www.rockytopinsider.com/2017/07/13/vols-talented-roster-sec-east/

I think "experts" are seeing the loss of Dobbs/Kamara/Barnett/Malone and not seeing anything else. This team is talented.

It would help to weight the stars.
4star senior = 4x2
4* junior = 4x1.5
4* sofmore= 4x1
4* fresh= 4x.5 etc.

But yes we have talent. It will take time to get them playing well together. By then we may loose a couple. I think we could also surprise some people. Underclassmen and under dogs have nothing to loose. They play fast and loose.
