"Vols have no business in Top 10"

Well here's the thing on that remark: The players play the game not the coaches. To stay relaxed and not be worrying because "their coaches can't outcoach us" is ridiculous. You worry if you don't have better players!! Forget coaching for the most part. And I believe both Shoop and DeBord could outcoach anyone on a given day!!

Don't think his remarks about other coaches not worrying about being outcoached by Tennessee referred to Shoop and DeBord....they were firmly aimed at the headcoach.

Also, who do you think any coach currently in the SEC would tell you they were more concerned about matching wits with during a game? Miles or Saban? Historically, who was considered a better Gameday coach, Spurrier or Fulmer? I personally think there's no doubt that the head coach's gameday philosophies and, more importantly, his decisions matter......a lot.

THIS dweeb is the very reason I cannot stand those PENCIL-NECKED DUDES like himself and Finebutt, et. al... who are able to look at STATS and RECORDS and have NO ABILITY to ANALYZE anything to do with the CAUSES behind them...because they have NEVER worn a jock and know NOTHING about the GAME!!!

And this is the reason so many guys like Parcells, Ditka, Ryan, Belichik, and Saban--just to name a few...have an attitude in their press conferences...

It is a COACHES' POLL he is griping about...so this dipstick and dill-weed thinks he has more knowledge than the coaches out there...typical....

However--this geek does capture the attitude of "outsiders" and even some other coaches in the SEC (Mr. Ed notably from Fla) who ALWAYS expect to beat us....

And that's why I have said that the Florida game is SO VERY CRITICAL to our season....Beat them and the Monkey is gone....lose and this geek's message is validated...No matter how well we finish the season, the stigma will still be there....

GO VOLS! :salute:

P.S. this guy is too stupid to even know how difficult our schedule was last year!!!

Was it Butch Jones who did a wonderful coaching job against Georgia down 24-3 or did the players step up and take over the game? Against Arkansas Vols had it first and 10 at midfield under 2 to go down 4. Was it poor playcalling by CBJ or a lack of execution by the players as to why we didn't go down and grab the win? Against KY did we have the better players to win 53-21 or did Butch just do a masterful in-game coaching job against Mark Stoops? We all know Saban is the best coach in the college game. in 2007 surely he could have out coached Monroe's coach in that upset loss or did his players just tank it that game? Look players win games and better players than the other team usually means winning!!

Andrew Astleford is its name from Saturdaydown south states that 1-Tennessee will not win the east,2-Tennessee will lose to Florida,3-Tennessee will lose to Georgia. He's a little 120 lb "tit turd"with the knowledge of Soloman who wishes to get his great sportswriting resume going.Probably from the outskirts of Dothan,Ala.(no offense to that fine little town.Andy As.,you can hide your sunshine in the usual place.GBO

How is this a bad thing? You want these kids pushed as hard as possible to be the underdogs and prove themselves. Is imagine this is more productive than another puff piece.

Since when is going 9-3 the same as 7-5?

Northwestern was #13 when we beat them (overrated or not).

Look at who you beat (decent teams in black)

Bowling Green
Western Carolina

Kentucky
South Carolina
North Texas

So the actual football coaches give the poll.
And we have a blogger, a couple of UF fans that spend all their time on a rival's board (and I'm sure the usual couple of UT fans) explaining how they know better.

Heh heh.

STFU.

Pre season rankings don't mean jack anyway.

Having said that, it's based on two things, how you did last year and who you have coming back. We finished ranked 22nd last season and honestly, it should've been higher than that IMO. We were ranked 23rd going into the Outback bowl and we demolished the #13 ranked team in the country. We should've moved up more than one spot.

 Not a bad argument.

You have no business commenting anything negative here on Volnation, this is not gatorville or swampland go there and start a thread saying UT has no business in top 10.Florida had no business being in top 25 at the end of last season nor being ranked ahead of UT even though they won last year with ped head at the helm.I am not big on UT starting so high but some of these people should know that a team with a soft schedual ala Ohio state in 2015 was easy .they almost had automatic road to cfp .it would have been hard if they had been ranked outside top 20 with their body of work to make cfp they had no big time games in regular season that would have gotten them make the cfp.so early season ranking mean alot.

Oh, but of course he says the 7-6 Auburn team and 8-5 Texas A&M team were decent. What a joke.

The SECw teams, on the whole, were significantly better than the SECe teams. Has been that way for 5 + years, at least. So yes, I think more of them than I do the SECe teams, especially over the course of a season.

You don't think beating Tennessee was a decent win for Bama?

Dang.

Otherwise, point made and taken.

Well who's ranked higher in the poll?

Your argument is terrible

Logic fails you. Going off your previous argument, name one decent win for 2015 Auburn and 2015 Texas A&M. I just looked at their schedules and there aren't any so don't even try. Well, I guess for Auburn, it'd be their bowl win. But oh wait, you don't put any stock in bowl wins. So, nope. Never mind.

lol... Yeah, Auburn and Texas A&M were real juggernauts last year. If you get to count those as quality wins, I'm putting a 10 win Bowling Green team on my list.

That goober that wrote that drivel will probably give Missouri his #1 vote on his AP ballot

Thank you sir.

Let's be honest.
We had a team filled with underclassmen that took 2 of the top 4 teams in the country, down to the wire.
We are returning the majority of those same guys. They are experienced, bigger and stronger.. with an added edge to defense, by the name of Shoop.
Just the DC alone would have probably changed the outcome of a couple different games last season.

The AP knows it, as do the coaches in this poll.
It's not really surprising that our lizard guests are being a little less nice these days, always easier to be courteous when there isn't much of a chance to get your azz beat.

As far as a couple of bloggers and our few uhm.. consistently degrading fans? lol. If they choose to spend their lives "enjoying" something that, ironically, they never take any joy in?

Well they can all STFU, imo. :)

Come on dude Auburn was 2-6 in the SEC and 7-6 overall and A&M was 4-4 and 8-5. Hardly juggernauts. If your point is Bama beat more teams than Tennessee then thanks Captain Obvious!! JFYI Bama won the NC and the Vols finished 22 in the polls. So looks about right to me.
