Well here's the thing on that remark: The players play the game not the coaches. To stay relaxed and not be worrying because "their coaches can't outcoach us" is ridiculous. You worry if you don't have better players!! Forget coaching for the most part. And I believe both Shoop and DeBord could outcoach anyone on a given day!!
Don't think his remarks about other coaches not worrying about being outcoached by Tennessee referred to Shoop and DeBord....they were firmly aimed at the headcoach.
Also, who do you think any coach currently in the SEC would tell you they were more concerned about matching wits with during a game? Miles or Saban? Historically, who was considered a better Gameday coach, Spurrier or Fulmer? I personally think there's no doubt that the head coach's gameday philosophies and, more importantly, his decisions matter......a lot.
