Game was over after pic 6. Shame. Reminds me of our first drive against Ohio State.

100% this. We lost by 17 and all 17 points were unfortunately on JA (love the guy, but it’s true).

2 points for the safety
14 points for the pick 6
1 forced to go for 2 because we are down

That’s the difference. I hate it because he’s played so well, but it’s true

Reminded me of JG’s fumble at Bama on the 1yard line that Gumps returned for a 99 yard Tuddy.

How can a similar outcome haunt the Vols 10 years later?

Yes Heuple put the O in a very bad situation by intentionally running the clock down and left the O with 2nd and goal, no timeouts, and 9 seconds. AL D knew they were probably going to have to pass the ball on that down if they wanted a chance at more than one play for a FG. They even called timeout to discuss it and Heuple still ran the same play.
If the ball was on the 5 or even 2 yd line sure its a pass but at the 1 running the ball is still a very good option. They practice these situations every game and the bottom line is we just didn’t execute. If we had spread it out and Joey got sacked it would still be Coaches fault and how many “why didn’t he just run the ball” would we be hearing?

Ok 10 point or 14 point swing yada yada yada. How about considering our offense scored 9 points for them?

“Disappointing result,” said Heupel. “Ultimately, offensively, just self-inflicted wounds in the first half killed a bunch of our drives. The positive is the way they came out and competed early in the second half. These half sentences are getting stale.

“We lost in the details. Ultimately, that’s my responsibility, our responsibility, players and coaches together.” Heuple Should have stopped there.
